That New Yorker article was great! It’s definitely not for everyone but it just hit home. I’m so thankful Soccer has arrived in the US! It was painful to be a fan for years. I still catch myself saying “I went to a Galaxy game… the LA soccer that is” but most all know when no one knew 15 years ago.
RFK Stadium may have become a dump over time, but those seats were far more comfortable than any non-club seats that I have occupied at Nationals Park or Audi Field.

If he was that sick I would hope he would have slowed down and gave his body some rest. But it is the world cup so I could see why one might keep pushing to cover the event. The instagram post by his brother has been deleted. This topic probably deserves its own thread. Just so we can honor him appropriately beyond a daily news thread.
Just now during the broadcast of the NBA game on ESPN, the announcing team spoke about the tragic passing of Grant
I had posted on the USMNT boards about the US participating in the Copa America but it seemed like there was some backlash for whatever reason. Posters complained about not being in the same confederation and having to be invited, teams not having an obligation to release their players as well as possible injuries. To me though, because the US, Canada and Mexico won’t have to go through WC qualification rounds for 2026, all the teams will need to play as many meaningful games together as possible. Friendlies by now, have proven to be somewhat worthless as many of the same players aren’t even on the final starting World Cup lineups or rosters. FIFA also decided that the friendly games aren't really that great and that is why they came up with the Nations League. Therefore , anytime you can get your top national team players together and playing in a competitive and important tournament , it has to be a positive. I also think it would be cool to play top club teams in some type of important winter round robin, say in California, Florida or Texas. There use to be many games against top foreign clubs but I haven’t seen many in maybe the last 10-15 years. The more games the better I say so I welcome the Copa America.
