Mexico was the worst cause the first half was played terribly. In all other matches, Argentina played very well, INCLUDING the one against Saudi Arabia.

We're doing good against Saudi in first half. Lots of chances created through a low pass, should have been 2-0 up at minimum of wasnt fluke VAR. Second half was crap right after they scored.

Futbol Americas is a much better show than ESPN FC.

I just want to know how the hell the players sleep before a match like this.. imagine if we as fans are anxious, what the players who will be jumping on the pitch must be feeling

They must have to shoot them down with a bear tranquilizer or something

That's exactly my prediction. Netherlands will help to pack Argentina player's stuff back to their hotel so they can saves energy for semi. Netherlands then heads home to Netherlands.

It’s their job so I don’t think they lose much sleep before big games. Guys like Messi are used to this by now. I saw a bein documentary on Italy’s 06 win and Pirlo said he slept like a baby before the final. Also, the late kickoff gives players extra time for an afternoon nap.

I remember watching short WC 86 documentary where Valdano sais he asked Diego after Germany has equalized "what we gonna do now.." , Diego casually replied "well, lets get the third goal".

Federer also said he gets asked about this alot by interviewers and he said the fans usually very nervous but not him , cause when he's on the pitch he's always like "ok I can handle this situation"

I mean that’s what they say, and I’m sure it’s the case for some, but mostly they’re trying to sound cool. No way all the possible scenarios aren’t crossing their minds.

For all of our guys these are the matches they’ve been dreaming of playing since they learned to walk. Doesn’t mean they’re scared or nervous, but you know they’re imagining everything that could happen as they lay in bed. This includes thoughts of glory, success, victory.. the chance to be remembered — not just fear of consequences.

Then there’s the pressure of having an entire nation depend on your actions. If you don’t think they feel that look at Messi’s reactions after the lost WC and Copa Americas. These aren’t just ordinary games. Many of our NT players have spoken of the weight and mental strain.

I’m not saying they’re hiding under their blankets trembling in fear, but there’s no way they just go to bed and just knock out without having all these thoughts crossing their minds.. they may be professionals, but they’re still human after all

No doubt. You can also tell how much Messi cares by the way he’s been celebrating after each goal during this WC.

    Prediction

Albania won't even qualify for a 48 team World Cup in 2026.

As ever I'm already nervous and it is still 5 hours to kick off (I live in the UK). The Netherlands are easily the best team we will have faced at the world cup to date and they have a great, if bonkers, manager. Anyway Vamos Argentina.

I think having an opponent like Netherland in KO round is a good thing. Make player concentrate more and can bring all potential out.

Easy path is not my ideal of winning big prize like World Cup.

The guy is a terrible ref, genuinely one of the worst refs I've ever seen, but he's so mad I'm not going to say it will be against us or Holland, it's impossible to tell with this guy.

I've gotta agree with loco here... I slept like crap. I am not sure how the players handle it but yeah, it felt one of those nights where I was "asleep" but I was aware that today was a big match day.

I actually slept well but that's because I was tired from getting up early twice this week.

I think the nerves mostly subside once you start running around. Just like going into battle, the most important thing is to get a good night of sleep!
