Totally agree. I left Montiero as a starter because I don't think the team will move from him, not that I want to keep him. I already have moved Jackson to the bench.
That's the problem with Yueill, he has rarely been the "take the bull by the horns" type of player. He is just too content to be a cog in the wheel, when, as captain, we really needed him to step up and set the example.
I will never understand your logic... you base a players worth off their statical input to a game, without the understanding how soccer is more than that. Like the philosophy and dexterity needed to play soccer. Or do you just like being a pompous know it all jack ass? What about defenders who score more goals than some strikers on the team? Does that make them better offensive players worth more?
Staying in San Jose. 🇧🇷NEWS: Earthquakes Sign midfielder Judson to a new contract— San Jose Earthquakes (@SJEarthquakes) December 8, 2022 1 year plus club option
I'm not sure if I'm all that excited about this. He was decent his first year but I haven't been impressed with him ever since.
I've always liked the Judson's fight. Prior to his injury he would give it his all. We attended the open practice they had at Avaya a few years back and not only did he work his ass off, he was obviously the team clown, laughing and cracking jokes. IF we retained him at a decent price and he stays injury free, I don't see this as a bad depth move.
Judson is a "+" for me. Hopefully whatever lingering injury issues he had last year are beyond him. I think that would have to be the case if they re-signed him.
I don’t know why, but I got the sense that Matias never really rated Judson. Hopefully Luchi will play him at his strongest position (hint, he’s a 6) and he will return to pre-injury form.
Matias started him 63 games 2019-2021, and only 4 players have had more appearances since 2019, and that includes Judson's injury plagued 2022 season where he only played in 16 games, and Matias was of course gone after 7 games. So, on the contrary, I think Matias rated him fairly highly. And he thought so much of him that he felt he could be an improvement for us at RB.

https://www.sjearthquakes.com/news/news-earthquakes-sign-defender-tommy-thompson-to-new-contract I find this funny because I was advocating to move TT to FB before many & was attacked on big soccer LOL. Now defend me
I do remember those posts. I think @nihon2000 specifically said "left back", which he's played a few times, but he's better at RB. In any case, sure he can play a number of positions but LB is probably one of the least suitable. That's as true today as it was a few years ago. And fullback in general I still consider out of position for him.
Good we can now close this entire thread and we shouldn't talk about TT anymore that just summed everything up. I couldn't have said it better.
Can’t believe I found it! https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/p...ostgame-thread-r.2021884/page-5#post-32552347
Shouldn't be hard. Just go to "Search Forums" and then "posted by" nihon2000, and then keywords "TT left back" or something like that. I think there are more...
