That WAS a heck of a winning goal. Being able to wrap your foot around the ball going fast away from goal. There is something Karmarriffic about having the Hardware in SoCal.
??? I saw them raising the Trophy on the field about 30 seconds after the final whistle. You're probably talking about an official ceremony??? Depending on the game, ESPN usually has replays available 2-3 hours after the event. Wild Time in Westwood Tonight
Well, I was tracking the game. Couldn't watch tonight, but I was hoping, as I always do, for PKs. I woulda watched those.
The Match replay is up on the ESPN site. I FF'd to the end and it ended where the live broadcast ended. I did note that as they were signing off, they had a graphic saying the Trophy Presentation would follow on the "ESPN App". I'll leave it to you youngsters to determine WTH that means.
Wherever we are on the Planet, whether I kick the bucket next week, whether we agree or disagree...........we'll always have the 2022 Women's College Cup Final.
Oh, that was a big-time foul on the UNC keeper on the tying goal. She was absolutely shoved into her own goal on the play. I will say that I've never understood the soccer tradition that lets the corner-kicking team to just crowd and push the keeper and essentially prevent her from getting to the ball. What a bitter loss for UNC and Dororance.
A completely dumb comment. UCLA has been a very good team for at least a decade and won a national title, what, seven or so years ago? UCLA also beat UNC earlier this year, so your comment is absurd.
Congrats to UCLA! They are not responsible for the officiating and they certainly had an inspired effort to comeback and win. Also, ouch.
Have to agree with L’orange- UCLA played a heck of a game and maybe deserved to win but have to say the tying goal at 16 seconds should have been called a foul. UCLA player holding down the arm of the keeper and shoving her back and down into the goal. Not sour grapes, just the laws are the laws
Thank you for showing some real grace in defeat after what was a bitter pill to swallow for sure. Perhaps @McSkillz could take a lesson after blasting the UNC and HotSeat threads with his arrogance. For someone who was really neutral in this Final4, fans like that make me want to root against their team. @McSkillz some of your BS was even delusional!? Wouldn't the "woke" thing have been to hire the minority female and Not the traditional white male? Even your attempted insults were terrible. Worthy of the 'ignore' feature.
I think the most important thing to keep in mind is that whatever one thinks of the call , it has nothing to do whatsoever with the ucla bruins and takes nothing away from their effort. Show me a team that does not fight for position on set pierces
McSkillz has made an ass of himself for several days with a lot of inappropriate and absurd comments.
Interesting perspective: goalkeeper wasn’t fouled at all. UCLA player had legal positioning in front of her. Then the gk jumped back knocking her own teammate over. pic.twitter.com/BlQa2uDXD7— the scarlet psylocke (@marvelnut) December 6, 2022
The goal did not jump back - she was shoved back by the UCLA player that was in front of her - from a different angle you see the UCLA player pinning down her right arm and shoving her backwards
"Pinning her down" The GK takes a few steps forward and she maintains contact on the Blue player before starting to backtrack. Some folks are delusional. There is not much in it at all. There is much more physical contact on just about every other corner kick in college soccer. Some of it is called and some is not. I would say 50/50 you get that whistle on that particular kind of play. Here's a take - it was not a foul because the referee did not call it! Regardless of your opinion after looking at multiple replays and angles, the official on the field did not have that benefit and in real-time did not make the call. You could pick apart every game at every level and ask for fouls and cards and PKs. The Human Judgement of the referee is part of the game! Now - IF the GK had no opponents at all next to them, would they have been able to make a play on the ball to the far post or the blue player that puts the ball in the goal??? I would say not likely and I would also suggest that is why there was no whistle. The corner was too good. Here's another take for you - there were about 15 chances for UNC players to dump the ball into the corner flag or play for a throw or corner in the last 10 minutes that they did not either think about or execute, from the play that led to the last corner back to the Patterson forward attempting a shot with about 9 to go. Maybe those are the plays that should be evaluated rather than look to blame the official.
He: Lots of hot takes---but it was a foul. Keepers don't end up near the back of their goal by choice or accident....Claims that UNC should have done this or could have done that are irrelevant.
