Do we have the money to sign Aaron Long? Where is the 1 million in GAM being taken from and how will it affect us? Hopefully someone can ask Vanney these questions....
https://prosoccerwire.usatoday.com/...ams-in-the-mix-for-usmnt-defender-aaron-long/ Four clubs have made an offer to Long : Miami, Seattle, Colorado, and the Galaxy.
BREAKING: The Colorado Rapids have acquired winger Kevin Cabral from the LA Galaxy in exchange for $1m GAM, per sources.Cabral, 23, was signed by the Galaxy in 2021 for $5.9m from Valenciennes FC. Cabral had 6g/5a in 61 apps with LAG. The move opens a DP spot for LA. pic.twitter.com/2F09453mnX— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) December 8, 2022 Possibly the greatest move in Galaxy history. I don't know why the Rapids did this.
Wow. long live Sporting Director Greg Vanney. I’ll be rooting for Cabral, however, except against us. I could see him coming good for Colorado. This opens a young DP slot.
The Brugman signing, the Puig TAM signing, the Klein suspension (and possible departure), now the Cabral trade for the exact sum of GAM that MLS stripped from us, and also an open DP slot in the final window before our foreign transfer ban goes into effect? Are ... are we almost out of the wilderness?
maybe we need the young dp for Puig (let’s hope not) but last time a TAM signing of ours was too good to be true it was Pavon.
I won’t even hope until I see a tweet that says ends with “… and wish him well in his future opportunities” of course knowing our marketing & PR team I’ll read that tweet 19 hours after Grant Wahl breaks the story … from the departure lounge in Qatar
WOW - this is some great-ass NEWS! Addition by subtraction. What was COL thinking?! I also wish Cabral all the best and may he prove all my nay-saying wrong! (Just not against us.)
As of right now, nothing is impacted. The rule allows up to 3 U22s when a team has an open DP slot or has a YDP as their third. Even if the Galaxy sign a new standard DP they'd have until the Roster Compliance date to ensure they're follow all the rules. #LAGalaxy #MLS https://t.co/7CSwqo3KeT— Corner Of The Galaxy (@GalaxyPodcast) December 8, 2022
CO gave the Gs $1m in GAM for Cabral. EDIT: Hmmm...are a CO fan? If yes, then yes, you did only pay the Gs $1m and it was the steal of the century!
Cabral won't, but Kevin will. Joking aside, yes, best of luck to the young man. I know he will have a hat trick against the Gs as is the norm.
It's official Thank you, Kévin 🙏#LAGalaxy acquire $1 million in General Allocation Money from @ColoradoRapids in exchange for Designated Player Kévin Cabral.📰 https://t.co/lzAgxtTTBR pic.twitter.com/mO9EWRXU2x— LA Galaxy (@LAGalaxy) December 8, 2022
Klein: I’m gonna hamstring our roster for 2023 with a million dollar salary loss. Vanney: (calls his pal Robin Fraser)
All the goals he should have scored for the Gs the past couple seasons will be scored against the Gs this coming season SMDH...
Galaxy is still on the hook for half of Kevin's salary but so be it. Nothing like a little internal scandal to make the wheels spin a little faster. Frankly I would not care if they had to pay all of Cabral's salary just to have them learn their lesson well but that would screw up our ability to gain decent players. Now on to Costa and hope the same system and people that got these two don't go and get another two, just like them. Yeah, thanks Cabral for the memories and thank you Vanney for your tremendous scouting abilities.
if Colorado uses him correctly and not try to force him to play a position he sucks at and he goes off, great for him but if Colorado uses him the same exact way and he goes off, I'll happily give him a big old FU
