geez....The Dallman-n-a-t-o-r missing again? not even on the roster Bayern München vs. Barcelona - 7 December 2022 - Women Soccerway and Rosengard refusing to use it's German subs...boo-hoo to them! Rosengård vs. SL Benfica - 7 December 2022 - Women Soccerway
this might just where she has finally has her breakout game, but give credit for Rall so far dominating her opposite FB Rolfo
2-0 half but Bayern looking gassed the last 15 minutes or so by trying to keep up with Barca’s ticky tacky possession style. A light bench to go with too……maybe bring in Laurent & Kett? But please no Saki! Let’s not turn the so far ironclad defense into an glass jaw!
Barca brings in two subs at the start of the 2nd half, so they’re definitely trying to out exhaust BM. Bayern needs an 2nd wind!
Batfink must of gotten an heart attack watching Bayern bunker so much, but this was 1980’s style when Germany clawed it twice into the WC even though rather got out played just about every game!
😍 𝓡𝓮𝓬𝓸𝓻𝓭 𝓼𝓮𝓽𝓽𝓲𝓷𝓰! 🙌💫 #FCBFCB | 3:1 | 66‘ pic.twitter.com/hNxvYp4r8H— FC Bayern Frauen (@FCBfrauen) December 7, 2022
He likely already got the heart attack when Bayern was 2:0 up after 10 minutes. Kumagai for Lohmann. Now it`s heart attack danger for you!
What a victory, what a night at Allianz Arena! 🤩✨#FCBFCB #FCBayern #MiaSanMia pic.twitter.com/WIHA4ZoKft— FC Bayern Frauen (@FCBfrauen) December 7, 2022
I would give mvp to Tainara for consistently booting the ball out of danger 2nd place mvp: maybe American Football?, since the pitch looked beaten up after hosting an NFL game(thus Barca couldn’t perfect their ticky tacky)
Some good, mixed with some bad. The coach finally realizing Zadrazil actually a really good DM was the secret to a lot of this teams success tonight, making her the player of the match for me. Lohmann's excellent ability to move with the ball in transition was finally put to some use too, even if it came at the cost of losing the composure Magull typically provides in progressing the ball to the forwards. But overall, not being defensive training cones for 45 mins, and actually trying to play football, saw Bayern provide some offensive threat worth calling an attack. And tonight it was enough to beat a Barca team that still produced 20 shots, compared to Bayern's 8.
Bayern have too many good players to not be competing with teams like Barca... and I know this having seen good, but not great Wolfsburg, and Lyon teams, both take turns beating them last season. So while I'm no fan of bunker ball, I can fully understand why Bayern had to do this tonight when trying to evade the high press of Barca, using a mediocre CB like GPV to initiate most of your progressive passing. (yes... this result doesn't change the fact I see GPV nothing more than a mediocre player) I don't think anyone genuinely believes this is Bayern's path to long term success either, and I remain highly suspect about their new coaches planned direction. But this result finally showcased what this team can accomplish, if their best players actually perform to their expected standards.
