Ultimate legend and undisputed Portuguese GOAT.

There's a bit of bittersweetness in how our incredible performance reflects on him and his swan song before a well-deserved retirement. We wouldn't even be here with this incredible new generation of footballers without him. Without his legend.

I want to see caveats in any correct criticism. I want to see acknowledgements of his past in any opinion that legitimately argues that he shouldn't start. I want to see the respect he earned for our NT.

I want to see the team and the fans carrying a legend that has carried us for almost two decades.

    He’s a joke

He lied about getting a touch on Bruno’s goal then he lied about swearing at the Portugal manager..

I've defended that he shouldn't start lately but that does not tarnish his career or legacy, strictly Portugal speaking, he's carried the team for years and given so many iconic moments, he's broken every record, he's the best of all time.

I can understand a guy with his mentality has trouble accepting his current struggles on the pitch, but his winning mentality and spirit can be what a relatively young team needs right now to reach that final we all want to see Portugal in. I can imagine CR7 on the bench doing what he did in the Euro final when he was taken out by Payet.

his record speaks for itself. even if he were a complete asshat all throughout his career, those lifetime stats are unassailable. the fact that he is was not a complete asshat, and has pretty much been a standup guy only burnishes those accomplishments.

if he is having a hard time gracefully accepting age, that should be no surprise. you don't scale those heights without thinking you can overcome anything and everything coming your way. age included.

Didn't lie about touching the goal. He didn't even do his celebration .

    anyways, never forget that:

Ronaldo has 5 cl and Messi has 3
Ronaldo is euro 16 campeao, while Messi has never won any relevant international title

I read so many comments on youtube claiming that Ronaldo didn’t celebrate the team goals. Sheep are following a false narrative made up by the anti Portugal/Ronaldo media. People don’t understand that Ronaldo is Portuguese and that he has Portuguese pride. He wants Portugal to win the world cup whatever if he’s in it or not just like any other Portuguese person. This isn’t club soccer.

They may as well give him another fake ballon dor, would be just as fake as the last one he received. Funny how y'all tried to hype up the tin pot copa america. Besides Brazil and Argentina, how are copa America teams doing at this World Cup?

Anyways, 2 more champions leagues. More career goals. Top cl scorer of all time. Top international scorer of all time. Champions leagues in two different teams. Euro champion. They trumps Messi's accomplishments.

Only player ever to miss to PKs in a WC. Also, hit me up when Ronaldo cries and bitches and quits on his team TWICE for getting clowned on by Chile.

Messi is a total bitch and he's FIFA’s poster boy so everyone loves to gargle his jizz despite multiple underwhelming performances as of late. Every time he stinks up the joint people ignore him.

    Keep on gargling I guess.

    Otavio:

“You know the first thing Cristiano Ronaldo did when he found out he wouldn’t start? He went to speak to Gonçalo Ramos and the rest of the team to encourage them. He is our leader.”

“Everything around Ronaldo is negative according to the media. They create many fake stories. Ronaldo is an example, he is our captain, from the locker room he supported the team, even when he knew he wasn’t going to play.”

Ronaldo is the most misunderstood player ever. Media try to paint him bad but he’s actually the realest sportsman and wishes everyone well.

The portuguese media is the worse. Always creating fake stories and trying to destabilize the NT. If Portugal win the WC, they shouldn't give the portuguese media any airtime as pay back.

All legit and cool, he's the GOAT. Still doesn't change that he should start on the bench right now.

Hopefully the media controversy makes them even closer as a team.

I’ve criticised Santos for his tactics in the past but you have to admit, since he has taken over the team doesn’t seem to have any issues, he’s a very good man manager.

I’m on record many times as not liking Santos but I do have to admit that he has handled the circus very well. Good on him .

100% correct . Good on Ronaldo if the internal reports are correct . Please coach don’t get sentimental now and start Ronaldo. His place on this team is to lead these young players and come in off the bench fresh when everyone is tired

Thing is Messi has another 3 or 4 years to go yet !!

Thankfully Messi is NOT solely reliant on his speed and power like you know who .

3 or 4 years? You are reaching there, bud.

Ronaldo is two seasons ahead of Messi in terms of age. In your 30's, significant regression can happen at any time.

Messi has been losing the ball like it's his job. That loss against Saudi Arabia was his fault. He needs to stop giving the ball away. It keeps happening.
