Precisely 600 days ago, Manchester United signed Bruno Fernandes for €63m after 7 months negotiations with Sporting. He’s a key player - on and off the pitch. 🔴🇵🇹 #MUFC…and negotiations underway for 2months to extend his contract as next priority. Work in progress. #Bruno pic.twitter.com/K25NomQA5q— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) September 11, 2021
50 goals involvements for Bruno Fernandes in the Premier League. pic.twitter.com/0zxiBQHs76— Man Utd Stuff (@ManUtdStuff) October 2, 2021
Was mixed / patchy performance for sure, particularly his positioning first half which needs to improve. However some of his passes were class - the one for Rashford that he scored from was similar to one he did first half for Fred that he blasted wide. A great long pass to Rash end of the first half that defender made last ditch tackle, plus another long pass to Rash when he blasted it against the bar right at the end of the first half. Start of second half, the quick pass to Ron - would have put my house on Ronaldo scoring that rather than hitting at the keeper. Then another later for Ronaldo, good save keeper. The pass to Rash for the first goal just after half-time my pick. Shame we didn't make as much of his chance creation - otherwise we all could have had an easier night 8 - Bruno Fernandes created eight chances against Atalanta tonight, the most by a Manchester United player on record in a single Champions League game (since 2003-04). Bruno Fernandes is just three assists away from equalling the record amount of assists in a single #UCL season pic.twitter.com/Rc7aEvZDdL— utdreport (@utdreport) November 23, 2021
Whilst it is defnintely the case that he has been off form (in a team that has been off form), still amazing how he racks up some of the numbers; Bruno Fernandes having a 'poor' season :- 14 G/A IN 19 STARTS - MOST ASSISTS IN UCL🥇- MOST CHANCES CREATED IN PL🥇- MOST CHANCES CREATED IN UCL🥇- MOST KEY PASSES IN UCL🥇- MOST BIG CHANCES CREATED IN UCL🥇Imagine when he is inform. 🤐 pic.twitter.com/tQOsI0uGEo— َ (@FernandesZone) December 14, 2021
I wonder if Utd fans would be as excited by the stats of individuals if Rangnick had taken over post-LVG. Probably, I guess - it’s a wider, Messi Ronaldo thing, an FPL thing, an individual YT highlights thing.

https://www.manutd.com/en/news/deta...ld-play-for-manchester-united-20-january-2022 "“I think most of the top teams in Europe and also in England play in a 4-3-3,” Rangnick outlined in his post-match press conference. “I think for him, it’s better than being pinned to a no.10 position because he can then make himself available in different areas of the pitch, not only in the centre. “For me, he’s not a wing player, but I think in this position, he can find the spaces himself, he can sniff the moments in which areas we have to play the ball for him, and this position as an 8 is almost perfect for him.”"

This was always going to happen once we got Ronaldo. Why is anyone surprised that what was already happening for the national team happened at United. THIS stage of Ronaldo, cannot play together with Bruno sadly. The Seleção das quinas work better without Ronaldo, but United need to work out which they need most
Unquestionable that Bruno having a poor season by both his own high stats standards and by just watching him - however all our players are under-performing. Agree that playing with Ronaldo is a factor as there are clearly some issues there, but there is a far bigger problem that specifcally hurts our attack and Bruno in particular and is the main reason our attack is so broken. We cannot progress the ball properly / quickly from the first-third to the middle-third. I said many times in last summer transfer thread that McFred had been found out as our poor end of 20/21 form showed. Teams had all their pressing traps and pressing triggers sorted for this CM pair and they both lacked the quality to overcome it. Glazers do nothing about it with some predictable results. Our inability to get Bruno on the ball quickly and in space is the main reason for his drop off IMO. However he has also been poor with what he has done with it too, no question and the chemistry with Ronaldo is a part of that.
