Opening in Munich , Final in Berlin Match Schedule >>>> https://editorial.uefa.com/resources/0275-151c5dcd4378-ed1dd4f365d4-1000/euro2024_match_schedule.pdf
I've seen better match schedules, to be honest. As has become normal, there are too many rest days. Obviously teams don't all need to rest on the same days, there should be matches every day from the opener to the QFs. The QFs should run over four days, not two. Kick-off times won't be announced until after the draw. That shows the usual disregard for fans. For sure there are a lot of times this won't matter much, but if you're aiming to arrive in Germany on a match day or relocate from one city to another this can seriously stuff up your planning. To be fair though, it will help fans that are following their teams that the group phase has been regionalised a bit. Groups A C E are playing their games in the South - Munich, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Cologne (which is further North but with the best rail links) plus an odd game in each of Gelsenkirchen and Dusseldorf. Groups B D F are in the North - Hamburg, Berlin, Leipzig, Dortmund, plus 2 games in each of Gelsenkirchen and Dusseldorf. Most itineraries look fairly mild, and if there is a particularly long journey between two of the games then the third one compensates (e.g. team C3 plays in Gelsenkirchen, then Munich twice). In this house planning has begun!
Planning also beginning in this house, albeit slowly at this stage. I like how there are 4 stadiums within an hour drive from each other. That's also one part of Germany I've never been to so I might make my main 'hub' somewhere around there (or is it too industrial / bleak?). Well, never been to Hamburg either. Looks amazing but at least 4 hours from the other venues that I'd consider going to, so a bit isolated. But I'm highlighting the Hamburg quarterfinal nonetheless. On the schedule, I never minded the off days because, for e.g., I can watch 2 QF matches by only taking one day off from work. Plus playing the round of 16 across six days is too strung-out IMO, as some of those matches aren't going to be very appealing.
It was similar for the World Cup, and I was based in Cologne which was great. (Frankfurt also is easy by train from there.) I'd stay there again except for the fact I should go somewhere else. The only other place in Germany I've spent much time is Munich, so there are still plenty of interesting options, including Hamburg like you say. Rest days for the half-hearted who are watching from home? Out of the question! And there's no excuse for missing any of the R16 either, pull your socks up man. (But it could be final group games that move to fill the void instead.)
lol Can't go there for the entire month. The days off also give me a chance to fly back to the U.S. without the risk of missing a big game.
Quick reminder that the qualifying draw is coming a week on Sunday (9th Oct). I'm not sure whether Ronaldo is involved though.
He has enough spare time these days. Anyway, interesting pots. Possible group of life: Hungary Israel Armenia Faroe Islands Gibraltar San Marino
Nobody mention Hungary. Actually, England (and France) being in Pot 2 does heat the draw up a bit - although most Pot 1 & 2 teams should qualify in the end.
True. I was initially trying to come up with a 'group of death' but it wasn't possible when at least 3 (maybe even 4 or 5) teams can qualify or reach the playoffs from the same group.
Hallo! I have only ever went to 1 Euros game and that was through a Sponsor Ticket. So this will be my first time buying tickets for the Euros. -What type of Ticket products are offered by UEFA? Is there anything like a TST offered by FIFA which guarantees a Final Ticket? -Is there a Ballot and FCFS both? -Will there be a Domestic portal? Apologies for too many questions at once but I couldn't find anything on the UEFA Website. Perhaps its too early to update all this. Excited as the Final will be taking place in the city I reside in (as it stands haha). Can't wait!
Qualifying groups A Spain Scotland Norway Georgia Cyprus B Netherlands France Ireland Greece Gibraltar C Italy England Ukraine North Macedonia Malta D Croatia Wales Armenia Turkey Latvia E Poland Czech Republic Albania Faroe Islands Moldova F Belgium Austria Sweden Azerbaijan Estonia G Hungary Serbia Montenegro Bulgaria Lithuania H Denmark Finland Slovenia Kazahkstan Northern Ireland San Marino I Switzerland Israel Romania Kosovo Belarus Andorra J Portugal Bosnia Iceland Luxembourg Slovakia Liechtenstein
It's usually roughly similar to the FIFA world cup process. Usually begins about a year before the tournament kicks off with a "blind" lottery phase where people apply for certain matches before they know who is playing in them. That's followed by a number of FCFS and additional lottery phases. But I doubt we will know the details until next Spring.
Thanks! Has there ever been a product like TST which guarantees a Final irrespective whether "your" team qualifies or not like the one at the World Cup?
I wonder why UEFA did not pair Germany to one of groups E, F, or G (five-team groups without a team in the NL final 4). It was not a bad concept for Brazil 2014, France 2016, or Qatar 2022.
The Germans chose not to; it isn't an obligation and they'd rather pick who they'll play in friendlies themselves.
If I remember correctly there have only ever been FMT Follow My Team tickets, which are conditional on the team progressing.
Correct no TST Good look to get a Final. Their will be one golden Drop and Germany has many skilled Supporters to hunt them down.
I have been eyeballing the schedule for a while now. I am disappointed that Gelsenkirchen & Düsseldorf do not have share match days with their neighboring Ruhrgebeit stadiums. But then again, those living in the area can comfortably watch a game almost each day. If you are travelling to Germany, it would make complete sense to room around the Cologne/Düsseldorf/Bochum/Dortmund area. It will be impossible to make it between Düsseldorf & the Waldstadion in FRA, unless Munich forgoes the prime (9pm) slot. Hope the organizers make that possible.
Also for these Ruhr venues (Dortmund, Gelsenkirchen, Düsseldorf, Köln), a 15:00 kickoff (assuming 15:00, 18:00, 21:00) can be easily reached from The Netherlands and back in a day. I've done it many times to watch club football that kick off at 15:30 on a Saturday for example - catching one of the first trains in, and last trains back. Enough time to have some beer on the train, look around the square/city, have a few more beers somewhere with a big lunch, and get to the stadium, enjoy it, and comfortably go back home that evening. Although Holland's qualifying group is a little treacherous being drawn with France and then Ireland (nightmares of 2001), if we qualify for the tournament proper I hope we get to play in the West. There are only a few draw combinations where we would play most of our group games "far away" in say Berlin, Munich etc., but of course let's at least qualify first (which seems to be a challenge half the time). Personally I've tried to avoid some of these big German stadiums as possible in the last few years with an eye to Euro 2024. Never visited Stuttgart before, so would love to go there. It's all set up to be a true summer football tournament.
I just hope Iceland qualifies and they play their games at the Signal Iduna Park. Imagine their fans doing the thunderclaps on the Yellow Wall side, would be insane. Really would like to sit amongst them.
So after watching the top UEFA teams compete in the World Cup, who is everyone’s early picks for going deep into the Euro 2024 tournament? I fear that it may finally be England’s time. Their best players in Qatar were mostly young and will only get better over the next 18 months (Saka, Bellingham, Foden, Rice, Phillips, White). Main concern I suppose is no adequate backup for Harry Kane. Portugal should also be better as they will learn from the WC 2022 experience and probably not have to deal with the Ronaldo distraction in 2024. Spain seems caught between 2 good generations. I will expect them to improve over the next 18 months as the likes of Busquets, Alba, Morata, Sarabia etc make room for the next generation. France of course is a threat. In theory they could be stronger in 2024 as they missed 5 important players due to injury during World Cup. OTOH, most of these injuries were to older players that will be even deeper into their thirties come 2024. And I am not convinced about their younger players (except Mbappe of course). Croatia will probably decline as the core of the team is ageing and some of their most important players in Qatar will probably even retire before 2024. Germany seems stuck in a rut. Holland doesn’t have a very impressive squad these days. So, I am going to say England and Portugal are my top 2 at the moment.
