Germany extremely ineffective at the 2022 World Cup Not only the timing, but also the general criticism leveled at Bierhoff as a person hit the national coach. For him, the former attacker was more than just a contact, but also "a friend" in whom he had developed "invaluable trust": "This trust is and will remain the greatest asset in football." The unsatisfactory sporting performance in Qatar is attributed to the coaching team's lack of concentration in crucial situations, especially when scoring goals. The 2014 World Champion recorded 67 shots on target in the three group matches against Japan, Spain and Costa Rica – more than any other participant in the preliminary round! The fact that his intimate Bierhoff had to resign before the big analysis with Neuendorf and Watzke did not necessarily correspond to his ideas. However, he does not think about resigning because of this. Bierhoff successor? Flick wants a say If there is no major disagreement at the crisis summit on Wednesday, it can be assumed that Flick will remain. Logically, his future also depends to a large extent on who those responsible want to bring in as Bierhoff's successor. As SPORT1 reported, candidates such as Matthias Sammer, Fredi Bobic, Lothar Matthäus, Ralf Rangnick or Thomas Hitzlsperger have been discussed extensively within the association in the past few days. Flick logically wants a say, after all he switched to the DFB because of Bierhoff. Will the bosses meet Flick? The experience with Marco Rose six months ago showed that Watzke in particular does not shy away from making unpleasant decisions. In May, BVB came to the big season review meeting internally – and to the surprising separation from Rose. The BVB boss actually appreciates Flick, considers him a very good coach with excellent leadership. He is aware that most players are behind Flick. But he also knows that Thomas Tuchel would be available immediately after leaving Chelsea. And: He cleared up the "dissent" that had arisen in Dortmund with the Champions League winner coach from 2021. https://www.sport1.de/news/fussball...en-so-denkt-flick-wirklich-uber-seine-zukunft
I'm rooting for this kid to make Euro 2024 Squad. This is from his weaker right foot, he's a leftie LMAO. You don't see any current NT player do this Tom Bischof (28/05/2005, TSG Hoffenheim) pic.twitter.com/Cl8URghbyn— BayernTalente (@CampusVid2) December 1, 2022 and this is another I hope makes Senior NT ASAP. Again don't see any current NT player doing this. Add his fantastic dribbling, passing, long balls/throughballs, corners etc And he legit makes so many plays look so easy which aren't always case. Samardzic masterclass 😮💨 pic.twitter.com/dD1qreVWHm— GoncaloDias17 (@goncalo_diass17) November 19, 2022
I'm glad even if Tuchel never takes job. Enmity is pretty stupid and pointless. now get Kevin Kuranyi and Joachim Low in a room together.
Per Mertersacker is also in consideration to replace Bierhoff. He has excellent credentials with what hes done at Arsenal with the academy over there, even though my preference is King Lothar Matthaus. https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/fo...-germany-arsenal-fc-latest-news-b1045420.html
The thing with Tuchel is we would tighten up a lot defensively, but he would also likely go to a back 3, which I’m not a huge fan of but he seems to prefer these days.
I definitely see Samardzic having a good shot, but Bischof is gonna have to make a breakthrough soon, become a regular starter in the BL this season and then next season be a star player for Hoffenheim to have any realistic prospect of making senior squad in 18 months. I think that tournament is likely too soon. My guess is 2024 we see more of 01-04’s like Wirtz, Moukoko, Bella-Kotchap, Adeyemi plus Samardzic gets called up, but for the 05’s it’s probably too early.
that's likely true but would be interesting to see if he could make it on time or not. Though I agree 05s=2026 WC will be start of seeing them.
OFFICIAL FLICK IS STAYING THIS WAS THE CONVERSATION BETWEEN FLICK, NEUENDORF AND WATZKE The DFB explains the result of today's conversation between Hansi Flick, Bernd Neuendorf and Hans-Joachim Watzke: DFB President Bernd Neuendorf, DFB Vice President Hans-Joachim Watzke and national coach Hansi Flick had a friendly and constructive discussion today about the current situation and prospects for the German national football team. Bernd Neuendorf explains: "We are all convinced that the 2024 European Championship in our own country represents a great opportunity for football in Germany. Our goal is to make this tournament a sporting success. We have full confidence in Hansi Flick that "He will master this challenge together with his team. With regard to Oliver Bierhoff's successor, we have agreed that we will first discuss the future structure of this area of responsibility within the DFB and then make a personnel decision." Hansi Flick: "My coaching staff and I are optimistic about the European Championship in our own country. As a team, we can achieve a lot more than we showed in Qatar. We missed a great opportunity there. We will learn our lessons from that. I have faith in the joint path agreed today with Bernd Neuendorf and Aki Watzke. We all want the whole of Germany to gather behind the national team again at the home European Championship in 2024."
Tbh I’m ok with Flick getting another shot, providing lessons are learnt. He didn’t have a huge amount of preparation time for the WC but from now on there are no excuses. Anything less then SF is a failure in 2024.
I think Flick is someone who 100% would have likely done better if we had like 3 weeks min pre-tourney and 2-3 friendlies before WC. He likely would have done better in a Summer WC. I still think Flick stayed in part due to no better option. Tuchel is free but don't think everyone at dfb is a fan of his or his style. but agree needs to get his shit together, stop with bias BS, axe some old guard and focus on rebuilding. Play with real RB and CF too. Have a fix core XI with few rotations here and there ASAP too.
I hope the first lesson Flick has learned is: PLAY A FVCKING STRIKER!!!! Time bring a permanent end to the false 9 experiment.
It’s only 3 months until our next NT fixtures. What I want to see start already by then is Flick making some clear decisions on how we can start to improve, the arrival of some new blood in the team and a change of tactics. If instead those matches end up with the exact same approach with high line, false RB, false 9 and Neuer in goal then all my hope for the Euros will be already gone.
Those fixtures could easily be a disappointing considering they are right before the hot phase of the CL and championship.
Oh absolutely, the results in those fixtures are not neccesarily important, more the willingness to start to implement changes.
The only thing that matters for me in the upcoming friendlies is whether Germany can keep clean sheets.
I don't mind Flick staying either. Important now is that he knows his starting eleven as well as two/three players who can come off the bench and make an impact on the game. That was really why Bayern was so successful in the first season he was in charge.
Following the decision to keep Hansi Flick, the next step for the DFB is to appoint a successor for Oliver Bierhoff. Fredi Bobic is considered the top candidate. Contact between Bobic and the DFB took place. Bobic is not against taking over. Further talks are planned [@BILD] pic.twitter.com/FGJOrtEjvo— Bayern & Germany (@iMiaSanMia) December 7, 2022 why? Haven't seen 1 + reactions towards Bobic. Even kicker poll no one wants him. dfb is really incomptetant.
given the passion you have and the amount of time you spend towards thinking about German football and the amount of youth scouting you do, you are the perfect candidate for the sporting director position
Flick forgot he didn't have time like Nagelsmann to do experiments on false 9. And he also forgot that virtually no teams have won champion league with a false system.
Lothar Matthäus has no interest in becoming Oliver Bierhoff's successor. “If the DFB wants to have an opinion, they are welcome to call. You are welcome to meet, but I will not interfere in the day-to-day business of the DFB," the 1990 world champion told Sky about an engagement with the DFB. The 61-year-old feels in good hands as a TV expert. https://www.fussballtransfers.com/a691644081640081234-matthaeus-reagiert-auf-dfb-geruecht
Watzke: "I've had a lot of talks over the past few days, including with Oliver Kahn and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. FC Bayern must be involved in all topics in order to create a solidarity within the DFB ahead of Euro 2024. This is very important." Watzke on Hainer's statement that Bayern will be involved in the DFL through Kahn: "I didn't speak to Herbert Hainer, but to Kahn and Rummenigge. I could very well imagine Oliver Kahn becoming part of the DFL board. That would make me happy. We have to get involved together." Watzke: "I want to do my part to ensure that German football moves forward again and that we become successful again - regardless of whether I work for the DFB or for the DFL" Hans-Joachim Watzke on yesterday's DFB meeting: "Parting ways with Hansi Flick was not up for debate. That was clear to everyone. It was a really good meeting with very good atmosphere that gave me hope and strength. It was very constructive, very in-depth & with a lot of trust" Herbert Hainer on Hansi Flick staying on as Germany coach: "I think that's good. Hansi Flick has proven at FC Bayern that he can successfully manage a team and win many titles, as he did with us. I'm convinced he can do it with the national team as well" Hainer: "We have the European Championships at home in 2024 and now it 's time to join our forces together so that we can move forward and play a great tournament at home" Also Hansi Flick and his staff are confident regarding the future and feel the main problem at the World Cup was the chance conversion. They believe the team created enough chances to survive the group stage (67 shots on goal were more than any other team in the group stage) [@BILD] pic.twitter.com/f0XMjtvcuj— Bayern & Germany (@iMiaSanMia) December 8, 2022 uh and what about the D that concedes at every attack????
biggest mistake Flick did was not taking Can he's a LB, CB, RB, DM, CM, AM, LW, RW!!!! Jack of all trade, master of none!!!!
