I wanted to make a thread to discuss the up and coming players that come from lineage within the sport or other sports. This is starting to become a lot more common in American soccer in recent years. A lot of our relevant players have significant bloodlines in the sport.

Use this thread to discuss any players from parents that played professionally/for USM/W/Y NT’s, siblings progressing through at the same time, or any players that came from parents that had successful careers in other sports.

I am going to try to make a master list of this soon. There are a lot of them.

This may not be exactly what we're looking for here but Kasey Keller is the son of an egg farmer.

Great list, but don’t forget Gavin Wolff (‘08). Made the most recent U-15 camp.

I'm now dreading Obed Vargas' inevitable call-up.

  11. For what it's worth both of Schweinsteiger's sons were born in Chicago. I hear they're top notch pre-schoolers albeit tri-nationals.

Along those lines, there's the Shevchenko kid, as well apparently as a Cahill.

Y'all, don't forget about Cristiano Ronaldo, Jr. We're only a couple of years away from the 2010s getting their first YNT call-ups.

Has Jesus Ferreira been mentioned? He's obvious.

I'm interested in players with exotic parentage like Rokas Pukštas whose father was a Lithuanian marathoner and his mother a Lithuanian triple jumper or Pablo Sisniega whose mother was a high jumper and father a modern pentathlete, both for Mexico.

There's also a thread with many of the MLS babies (and others) born in the US over the last few years:

I was going with just players who are YNT eligible but I didn't know that about Richards dad. Thanks for sharing. Obviously if we expand beyond YNT-eligible, we get a lot more players. CCV, Ferreria, Pulisic, Weah, Jedi, etc...

Tom Presthus played for DC United and Columbus as well as a couple usmnt call ups. He’s the father of 06 Owen Presthus and 09 Rhys Presthus with Columbus. 03 TJ Presthus is now at Yale

05 Ty Nero with Columbus, his dad is Nesby Phibbs who has featured on a Wiz Khalifa album. Not soccer related but still kinda cool

I think the mother was also a Division 1 player. One of those families we are seeing more of where the whole family plays the sport at a high level. The Reyna’s are another example of that, as are the Sullivan’s.

Some I’m aware of roughly off the top of my head with some basic research added in for the details. Sorry if I mentioned any that others have said before. This was the list I said I was going to make. There are a lot more that could be mentioned.

    Multiple ones:

Reyna family: Everyone knows the mother and father played for the USMNT, and about Gio (‘02). He has a brother Joah (‘07) that is good (not Gio level) and plays in the Austin academy.

Wolff family: Father Josh played for the USMNT. Has three sons, Tyler (‘03 USYNT player at SK Beveren), Owen (‘04 USYNT player at Austin FC), and Gavin (‘08 USYNT player in the Austin FC academy). IMO, Owen is the best of them. Then Tyler and Gavin in some order.

Sullivan family: Father and mother were both high level players. Father played briefly in pro game. Grandfather coached Villanova for many years. Four boys Quinn (‘04 USYNT player at Philly Union), Declan/Ronan (‘07 Twins at FC Delco), and Cavan (‘09 USYNT player). Quinn and Cavan are very good. Cavan will likely be better, if he keeps developing well. Never seen Declan or Ronan play. I gather they are decent academy level players, but not at a similar level to Quinn or Cavan. Their cousin is also former USMNT player Chris Albright.

Booth brothers: Taylor (‘01 USYNT player at Utrecht) and Zach (‘04 USYNT player in the Leicester academy). Taylor better than Zach, but both good.

Gomez brothers: Johan (‘01 USYNT player at FSV Zwickzau) and Jonathan (‘03 USYNT player at Real Sociedad)

Carrera siblings: Nico (‘02 USYNT player at Holstein Kiel), Antonio (‘04 USYNT player at FC Dallas), Juan (‘09 in the FC Dallas Academy), and I think there’s also a sister that’s a high level player. Antonio and Nico are different players, but similar level.

Craig brothers: Brandan (‘04 USYNT player) and Andrew (‘07 in the Philadelphia Union academy). Brandan is the better player right now, but Andrew isn’t far off him. Their father also played college soccer.

Reynolds brothers (part 1): Bryan (‘01 USMNT player at Westerlo) and Ty (‘04 unattached player). Bryan is better than Ty, but Ty isn’t a bad player.

Reynolds brothers (part 2): Andre (‘01 unattached player) and Justin (‘04 USYNT player at Chicago Fire)

McCloud brothers: Bowen (‘04) and Judah (‘07) are both in the FC Dallas academy. Their older brother Jedidiah played in the Chicago Fire academy. Bowen is better than Judah. No clue how good Jedidiah was.

Hardin brothers: Ethan (‘03) and Drew (‘04) both play for Inter Miami II. Similar level players. Drew maybe a little better.

Borso brothers: Wyatt (‘04) is a former Chicago Fire academy and Pittsburgh Riverhounds player now playing college soccer at Notre Dame and Dylan (‘06) currently plays in the Fire academy. Dylan is better, but Wyatt isn’t bad.

Wynder brothers: Elijah (‘03) and Joshua (‘05) both play for Louisville City FC. Joshua is much better, but Elijah isn’t bad.

Zambrano brothers: Marcos (‘05 unattached USYNT player) and Mateo (unattached ‘08). Marcos is the better player, but Mateo also has good potential.

Vargas brothers: Obed (‘05 USYNT player) plays for the Seattle Sounders and Abad (‘08 USYNT player) plays for the Sounders academy. Obed is the better player.

Cowell brothers: Cade (‘03 USYNT player) plays for the San Jose Earthquakes and Chance (‘08 Mexican YNT player) plays for the Sacramento Republic academy. Cade is the better player.

Gitau brothers: Andre (‘06 USYNT player) and Lionel (‘’08). Both are unattached. Similar level players.

Held brothers: Kamden (‘06), Kruz (‘08 USYNT player), and Kash (‘11?) all play for the Chicago Fire academy. Kruz is better than Kamden, but Kamden isn’t bad. I’ve heard Kash is the best, but probably too early to say.

Chirila brothers: Stefan (‘07) and Andrei (‘08 USYNT player) both play in the Philadelphia Union academy. They are similar level players.

Pierre brothers: Nelson (‘05 USYNT player) and Neil (‘07 USYNT player) both play in the Philadelphia Union academy. I think Neil is a better prospect, but Nelson isn’t bad either.

Sunderland Family: Beckham (Unattached ‘03) and Lawson (‘01 at Inter Miami II). Father Larry runs the academy at FC Cincinnati.

    ‘01:

Sebastian Berhalter: Father coaches the USMNT.

Tanner Tessmann: Godfather is Dabo Swinney (legend college football coach of Clemson)

    ‘02:

Julian Gaines: Brother McKinze is a former USYNT player that now plays for Charlotte FC.

Malik Tillman: Brother Malik plays for Greuther Furth

    ‘03:

Paxten Aaronson: Brother Brenden plays for USMNT and Leeds.

Danny Leyva: Father played in the Club America academy.

Justin Che: Brother plays in the FC Dallas academy.

Dante Sealy: Father Scott played for the T&T National Team.

Luka Bezerra: brother plays for the Chicago Fire.

    ‘04:

Alex Freeman: Father Antonio was an All-Pro Wide Receiver in the NFL for the Green Bay Packers

Gaga Slonina: Brother Nick is a former USYNT player and Chicago Fire player.

Rokas Pukstas: Father was an Olympic marathon runner for Lithuania. Mother a National Triple Jump champion for Lithuania.

Kenny Hot: Cousin is former USYNT player Sacir Hot.

Malick Sanogo: Father Boubacar played for the Ivorian National Team.

Damián Alguera: Father was a pro in the El Salvador first division.

Santi Ferreira: Brother Jesus plays for the USMNT. Father David was a former Colombian NT player.

    ‘05:

Brandon Marshall: Brother plays at Winthrop.

Santiago Suarez: Father played for the USMNT.

Niko Tsakiris: Father Shaun is a former USYNT coach. Brother Matteo (‘08) is an LA Galaxy academy player. Not sure how he compares to Niko.

Noel Buck: Brother plays at Georgetown.

Alan Carleton: Brother Andrew is a former USYNT player.

Marcello Mazzola: Brother plays in the Philadelphia Union academy.

Tarik Scott: Brother plays at Tulsa.

Mataeo Bunbury: Father Alex played for the Canadian National Team and brother Teal played for the USMNT. Sister Kylie is an actress.

    ‘06:

Owen Presthus: Father played for the USMNT. Mother played in college. Brother plays at Yale. Has another younger brother that I believe is an ‘09.

Matthew Corcoran: Father Brian was a former USYNT player (and college player). Mother was also a college soccer.

Nico Schelotto: Father Guillermo played for the Argentine National Team.

    ‘07:

Zavier Gozo: Brother Elijah plays at Utah Valley.

Jeremiah White: Father Jeremiah played for the USMNT.

Santiago Morales: Father Javier is a legendary former MLS player.

    ‘08:

Oscar Pineda: Both his brothers are former USYNT players. Victor is a former Chicago Fire player. Mauricio is a current Chicago Fire player. I’ve heard he has two sisters that are also high level players.

Emir Herrera: Father played for one of the better Mexican clubs. I believe Tigres, but I can’t remember exactly.

    ‘09:

Linkon Ream: His twin sister KK is apparently an extremely good player and a prodigy level player
