Sport Club Internacional @SCInternacional #SAOxINT | 2Q | 14' - Mano makes the first two changes of the night. First, Johnny gives way to Matheus Dias. Come on, create! Leading 1-0.
Not in the squad today, no other info immediately available. ETA: At least one random tweet says it's a knee injury.
Spezia interest: CBS Sports Golazo @CBSSportsGolazo Official Spezia Chief Football Officer Eduardo Macia confirms in an interview that the Serie A side are in negotiations for USMNT's Johnny Cardoso. Johnny had 3 goals and 2 assists this season for Internacional, who finished second in Brazil's Serie A.
Sources: La Liga's Real Betis among clubs interested in USMNT & Internacional midfielder Johnny Cardoso. President of Serie A's Spezia said his team are in negotiations to sign him too.Cardoso, 21, born in NJ, raised in Brazil. 4 US caps, 91 apps for Inter already. Big talent. pic.twitter.com/msfVc4fg3F— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) November 18, 2022
Big fan of Manuel Pellegrini and the way Real Betis play. If you get that chance, take it. It’s much better than playing for a relegation threatened Spezia.
E aí, o Johnny seria um bom repórter? 😂😂😂😂😂 O estagi tá rindo muito disso! 😂😂🔗 #MundoColorado 🌍🇦🇹: https://t.co/6KRJbtH0VE pic.twitter.com/VSSaaQp5O1— Sport Club Internacional (@SCInternacional) November 19, 2022 So, would Johnny be a good reporter? The intern is laughing a lot about this!
Rumor that he is about to sign with Spezia in the next day or so: https://www.spezia1906.com/2022/11/24/lo-sbarco-di-cardoso-regia-americana-scuola-brasiliana/ The oddity of Google Translate: The footballer has dual nationality, because he grew up in the United States on September 20, 2001, precisely in Denville, New Jersey, but has lived in Brazil since the age of three months.
I tire of young Yanks going to teams in Europe that are in serious relegation danger. But I do want to see Johnny move up in competition. It is time.
agreed. relegation teams just make things so much more tenuous and difficult, generally....but not sure what is exactly on the table and what he is choosing from.....it is better than staying in Brazil.
Congrats Johnny. La Spezia itself isn’t much to speak of, from what I remember, but it is the gateway to the cinque terre and all that. Spezia has done an impressive job staying in Serie A with relative comfort for a couple of years. Not bad for a club that was nowhere near the top flight for most of its existence and was operating under a transfer ban for a bit, as I recall.
This is simply not true, there no deal done between Johnny Cardoso 🇺🇸🇧🇷, Spezia and Internacional. https://t.co/Zuypbj69aR— Tactical Manager (@ManagerTactical) December 4, 2022
Tac tends to be pretty spot in with Brazillian news but Schira is also pretty reliable so worth monitoring. Does sound like Betis is going pretty hard after Johnny too
La Spezia is my Achilles' heel. I have had the unfortunate pleasure of being in La Spezia twice. We had a hotel reservation there for two nights back in 2004 (was going to be our home base to traipse all up and down Cinque Terre.) Showed up at the hotel after a local train (not express) through Tuscany... and nobody is home to let us in. We get on the phone and the proprietor's kid answers- "mia mamma non c'è ora tornerà tra poche ore" (mom's not here and won't be back for a few hours.) So we chanced it and found a room in Riomaggiore instead, which was better. That didn't warm us on La Spezia. Cut to 2019- we rented a car and drove from Rome through Tuscany en route to Cinque Terre. Not only was the rental car return place an insanely difficult place to find, but I got overcharged $300 for the rental. And a train strike happened the next day, which forced me to spend hours in La Spezia train station scrounging for solutions. La Spezia is the one city in the world I wouldn't piss on to put out if it were on fire. But good luck to Johnny. I hope he succeeds while the team fails most sensationally. Seriously, f*ck that city with lots of big pointy objects.
A "who is Johnny?" article from the Valencia folks: https://www.eldesmarque.com/valenci...-centrocampista-que-suena-para-el-valencia-cf The Internacional de Porto Alegre midfielder is a key player in his team, which has finished second in the Brazilian Serie A, even ahead of Flamengo, current champion of the Libertadores. According to data from analyst Javi Mera , Johnny Cardoso was the fourth midfielder with the highest number of successful defensive actions per game (12) in the competition. In addition, he has a 60.6% success rate in defensive duels and averages 43 passes (89% success), 78% of which are progressive.
would it? I guess I rate him too low given the club interest he’s getting, but Valencia seems like a tough midfield to break into. Musah has been a consistent starter, but not really a star there. And I think Musah is a terrific player. Do people think Johnny is a mid-table La Liga level talent? I don’t, but would be ecstatic to be proven wrong. Bottom feeder Italy seems more like his level to me right now.
Johnny is young, he still can improve. The reason why I said that it would be a good club for him to go to, is because it is a club that I'm actually a fan of.
Rumor of Roma interest: Ekrem KONUR @Ekremkonur #EXCL AS Roma are planning to make an opening bid to sign SC Internacional's 21-year-old player Johnny Cardoso in the January transfer window. Valencia CF and Real Betis are monitoring the situation of the United States player. #VamoInter #ASRoma
