It's worth noting that most if not all the big Crew 2 stars this year, including the guys signed to the first team, were scouted and recruited from elsewhere. So somebody is able to identify talent and the team is aggressively going after them. I suspect that bringing in Nancy will aid in that effort considerably. When kids see that the big teams' HC is more than willing to give them a shot, it has to be good for recruiting.
Wilfried Nancy will be the next coach of the Columbus Crew, a league source confirms to The Dispatch. His hiring will be formally announced at a press conference tomorrow morning. https://t.co/c3QVfjliQa— Bailey Johnson (@BaileyAJohnson_) December 5, 2022
So tomorrow at noon ? 10:31 ? Hang will start the fire Nancy thread ? i guess there is still time for it to happen tonight
For what it's worth, I've seen a number of Crew ads on tv during the cup. Et bienvenue Monsieur Nancy!
Kiss of death Absolutely love the idea of Nancy to @ColumbusCrew with that roster and the flexibility they have with it. Will make for an interesting watch to say the least. Good get by @tbez10 👊🏼💪🏼 #MLS #Crew96— Taylor Twellman (@TaylorTwellman) December 6, 2022
Interesting that she got it from a league source. Her desk is a couple miles from Crew HQ but she gets the info from somebody in New York.
I approve of this hire. Will it work? Who knows, it’s something different though, not a re-tread, betting on youth and talent. I like it.
I actually really like the hire. But, I live to serve. https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/congedier-wilifried-nancy.2123816/
Heres a thought-whens the last time the Crew hired a coach who had not been fired from his previous job? Excluding internal promotion Warzycha. Its been a good long while. You dont have to say the name of the person who is the correct answer if you dont like, thats not the point, I am just a huge fan of this hire personally. I think its ambitious and seems to hopefully signal a shift to a youth movement which should lead to a lot more attractive and interesting soccer. Theres been precious little of that around here lately.
CF Montréal reached a financial agreement with the Columbus Crew SC which also includes the departure of assistant coach Kwame Ampadu, fitness coach Jules Gueguen and video analyst Maxime Chalier.#CFMTL— CF Montréal (@cfmontreal) December 6, 2022 The Montreal Impact got our name wrong in their announcement
I really wish I knew why these types of formal introductions make me cringe so bad. There is no reason for me to feel that way and yet I do.
His English is not terrific. The new assistant coach, Kwame Ampadu, is a black man born in England who is an Irish national. Played for Arsenal briefly, then West Brom, Swansea, etc etc.
https://www.columbuscrew.com/live Be warned, the audio is not great and there is at least 1 instance of really loud feedback.
