Not sure what if anything Sydney offered him. Surely they could have found a job for him off the pitch to help him start a post playing career in football but I don't think you can afford a marquee player who either plays off the bench or goes off after 55 minutes.

I've only read people saying that SFC wanted him to get his citizenship, so that he didn't take a visa spot, and he didn't want to have to rely on getting that? :( But yeah, nothing confirmed in concrete obviously?

He’s been here since 2015, so I don’t know what’s taken him so long. Fornaroli has been here for just as long, yet he has Aussie citizenship.

He might not want to. We allow dual citizenship but Serbia may not. I don't know their laws.

I love the drama surrounding Ninkovic’s move. I’m reminded of Luis Figo moving to Real Madrid from Barcelona.

WSW don’t actually have anything to gain by signing a 38 year old injury prone visa player, they just purely did it for the lols :ROFLMAO:

I find it funnier that they're wasting a visa spot and money on him just for the lols. Little brother has to do something to remain relevant I guess? :D

I don't agree with this. Ninkovic is one of Sydney FC's greatest ever players. He has earnt my resapect, and those that can't or won't respect him show themselves to be rather petty people in my opinion.

I don't hate him either, and I wouldn't boo him. I just find it funny that some people want to do those things.

People may be surprised how important having a "state of the art" training and development center is for the attraction and retention of players. You see it a lot in MLS when we sign non-DP Euro players. They almost always make reference to how impressed they were with the training facilities and that they put it up along side the quality of Euro teams. Obviously not of the quality of the big clubs, but the mid tier teams MLS teams sign are generally being courted by second tier clubs.
