Let’s hope this means that Turner gets the start in Arsenal’s League Cup match v Brighton on Wednesday.
A little curious to see this thread lagging, today of all days ... Arsenal v Brighton in the EFL Cup Turner is on the bench, perhaps for safekeeping.

With his performance yesterday, I gotta figure some clubs are inquiring about him. Hopefully he gets some more opportunities to legit challenge Ramsdale for no.1 because if he keeps it up, he's gonna be leaving Arsenal on loan next summer.
Honestly, I think he did well it's just the defenses kept letting him down. Way to go on that double save!
I def enjoy knowing our keepers always show up during the World Cup. After sometime has passed, I'd love to get thoughts on how Turner's performance compared with those before him.
He played really well, I thought. Didn't pay for a few fumbles. Not expected to stop a PK. If he stopped any of those Dutch goals would have been pretty big. Distribution was decent. And felt very calm/capable, which is big. I was pretty impressed and was never overly concerned with his play.
He played just fine in the cup. a couple nervy moments with the ball at his feet, but wasn't punished. Perhaps he can work on his anticipation moving forward. I believe it was the first Dutch goal where Depay looked 100% like he was going to have a first time shot (he did) and with the alignment of bodies and defenders in front of him, only had 1 area to shoot and Turner reacted late to the shot moving to his right. It would have been a world class/save of the tournament type of save. Not faulting him, but anticipation could have been a little better. He has improved leaps and bounds over the past two years and hopefully he continues on that.

Pretty second choice-y side, but includes Saka and a pair of Gabriels - not packed with Academy guys like some peers did. One would think Saka can create something here even if the rest of the squad can't dominate, and Turner should be on the hook for no more than a few big plays.
