I do think one thing that really screwed Germany was Loew being allowed to take the team in to the Euro '21 Flick should have had a full 2 year cycle. Without Corona - Loew gets sacked in '20
Yep I definitely agree there. One year is definitely not enough to get a dysfunctional national team back on track to become contenders. But no way a group stage exit is justified in a squad who have substantial quality. No way England have better players than us, but I guess Southgate has worked for a period of time to build a bond. For me Loews extended period as the national coach is One of the Major reasons of our current crisis.
Thomas Müller and Ilkay Gündogan are likely to announce their international retirement. Both are currently considering this scenario. Manuel Neuer, although he announced he will continue, is no longer undisputed number one after the World Cup [@kicker] pic.twitter.com/vSpYrP96wI— Bayern & Germany (@iMiaSanMia) December 4, 2022 Time to try some new options.
Jesus, spare us the drama with Neuer which only will lead to a lot of bad blood and just give it to ter Stegen. Maybe do an open fight between mats and trapp but get rid of Neuer, asap.
This World Cup exist defiantly hurts more then the last one . As it was so unnecessary…. If the team juts played Full focus like against spain their first game . One lesson hopefully when playing for Nt you have to be fully 100 percnt from the start . These concentration blunders are our down fall . If you play for NT you have to be fully committed or go home all the time Pity we don’t have any competitive matches until the euros . We can just hope they now know what it takes .
We now have to watch another team taking the honors... and other teams making a name for themselves. Not saying we would have won the tourney but damn we could have made such a huge impact I guess we are all allowed to cry this year ,and next year we just have to pick up ourselves and move on. I am sure this loss however will sit deep with the younger generation, and will have an impact on their future performances. no one will forget this exit. Not that they were terrible at all, but when you go in to a world cup , you give it it your all from the start and you forget about politics and other things that have nothing to do with the sport. Players like Musiala, Raum, Schloterbeck , Havertz , Bella, Adeyemi, Moukoko ... all of them will remember this and hopefully next few tourneys they will be the ones that make sure this will never happen again......
Latest FIFA rankings including games from last night, Germany with only a deficit of 3.26 Points The other teams like Argentina, Brasil, Spain, Portugal and France as they all lost a game also haven't scored incredible bonus points. England and Netherlands racking up most point so far .. Seems if Morocco and Japan dont score any upsets we will maintain our current positions of 13th ( as we were so unlucky it is a fitting position number)
yes I would have been okay to loose against Brasil in the 1/4 if they were better then us. URGHHH hahaha I see we still all angry as is the german nation. Germany has never ever stuffed up this bad.....
Low should have had the dignity to resign post 2018 debacle, everyone could see nothing was gonna change. Even playing our group matches at home in the Euros we still came very close to finishing bottom of the group again. Any national football association with any balls whatsoever would have fired Bierhoff for backing Low and being party to the pathetic PowerPoint presentation that somehow convinced the DFB we were actually gonna improve without big changes.
and yes we can carry on an bitch as we also have process this traumatic situation, especially for the fact that we could have done so well OK in January we will stop
That's because Loew was the 'heat shield' sacking him exposed the DFB to blame. I am cup half full on all of this, Germany has some exciting new talent compared to the gloom of '18-20 but i do. worry at the state of BL1
The 1BL is arguably stronger and more competetive now then it has been in a while in terms of everyone below Bayern. The problem is Bayern are still a clear step ahead of everyone else which makes the title race a non event. It is particularly encouraging to see a team like Freiburg who give proper chances to younger players able up to this point to maintain strong domestic form and cruise to top spot in their Europa League group.
Just to add to that Freiburg’s example could be key, as if they can show that BL clubs can be competitive on two fronts with sensible spending and youth integration then it’s definitely possible that teams like Hertha, Stuttgart & Leverkusen could do the same in coming years. All 3 have some very promising youth.
The problem is, none of the non-bayern sides can build a core over time that they hold on to, and especially develop deep european experience. Currently it feels like there is just the Bayern team and some bits and pieces. Gundo (retiring) and Rudiger are the only 2 who have big european experience outside Germany, arguably playing a higher level of club football than Kimmich and co - I think that showed. Havertz is still possible but his career seems in flux, and Werner didn't cut it
Messi on Germany's exit: "It surprised me because they had many important players, a young team and because Germany is always among the best. It's surprising that they were eliminated in the group stage once again"
We are out primarily due to piss weak leadership imo. Weak leadership from the DFB, weak leadership from Flick and weak leadership on the pitch. I would fire Bierhoff and replace him with Hoeness, fire Flick and appoint Magath and strip Neuer of the captaincy and give it to Rudiger or call up Rode and make him captain. No nonsense grit and hard work first above all else.
