These are fun matchups, such different styles. My gut is France’s speed will simply be too much for England, and the other will be who scores first.
England’s seems to play an ugly brand of soccer but if/when they get a goal, they don’t mind risking things and they go forward well.
Hopefully not for good but if so, it’s been a good run. Japan doesn’t deserve to win and Croatia doesn’t deserve to lose. But on the flip side, you can’t say Croatia deserves to win or Japan deserves to lose.
Agreed! And he did run his ass off! He didn’t look gassed, so I’m scratching my head for the strategy…he’s gotta be one of your best PK takers.
Croatia was the better team overall. You really saw their depth in extra time. They subbed off 5-6 players and they were still able to press. Japan had to go deeper into a shell and hope for a counter. Too bad this game has to be settled by PKs.
