The alternative is we're playing 2-3-5.

So Rashford is the one to be dropped ,just as he hits his best form ?

classic southgate . What a tactical genius.

I think Rashford is starting. Seems it will be him, Kane and either Saka or Sterling.

Sterling should be nowhere near the first 11 right now. Rashford and foden/saka every time. Also if we are in a comfortable position I'd like to see maddison come on

    BBC Sport readers would start
    Pickford
    Walker, Stones, Maguire, Shaw
    Bellingham, Rice, Foden
    Saka, Kane, Rashford

    Alan Shearer would start
    Pickford
    Walker, Stones, Maguire, Shaw
    Bellingham, Rice
    Rashford, Mount, Foden
    Kane

    Rio Ferdinand would start
    Pickford
    Walker, Stones, Maguire, Shaw
    Bellingham, Rice
    Saka, Foden, Rashford
    Kane

88% of people went for Foden so not starting him will be extremely controversial

Shearer and rio's lineup Is fantasy football. We need a strong base in midfield so it has to be Henderson rice Bellingham. Senegal are a big physical team. It would also allow Bellingham to take off the shackles

I just can't see Senegal beating us. I have looked at this from every angle and every angle we are superior to them. The majority of their players play at a small level. The only two players they have playing for a top club is koulibaly and the Goalkeeper. They will be a tough side but if we go at them we should win

You sure you aren't just projecting your own values onto the rest of the world? The USMNT is mostly made up of quite privileged kids whose parents could afford to pay $4k a year for football coaching, yet most rooted for them against the Netherlands. I don't think fans worldwide care all that much about the players' backgrounds, and when they do using players of foreign backgrounds (especially by birth) tends to be something disparaged, not appreciated.

Not really World Cup related, but a bit strange seeing Alfie Mawson turning out in League 1 for Wycombe given he was in the England squad four and a half years ago.

What do you mean most rooted for the USA? I'm pretty sure in scores of countries across the Middle East and in other parts of the world did not root for the US. In the Middle East the US are known as 'the big devil' in many countries.

Holland don't do themselves any favours though. Very arrogant. Depay was acting very small time on Twitter after the game.

Hopefully we get it to 3:0 and bring on Maddison and Grealish :)

I would imagine they will link up magically given they are supremely gifted and besty mates

Even then he is an relative exception. He is the one of only three players (Out of 23) in the 2017 under 21 Euro squad to be playing in League 1.

It was a pretty solid squad. Quite a few full internationals and more with good top flight careers.
Germany won, but only Gnabry and Kehrer really kicked on.
Portugal had a few useful players as well.

Injuries, though I never really saw what was so special about him in the few appearances he had for us.

Same in 2015 Sweden won but only Lindelof has become top class.

Playing against a physical midfield with an even more physical midfield never works. Smarter to outplay them with technical superiority

Thought the midfield rice Henderson Bellingham didn’t work at all vs Wales. Really hope Hendo isn’t starting again but some rumors that he is. Rice / Henderson have always struggled together
