I doubt it’s a talking point on the US boards, but I’ve been seeing it all over the place on social media still, generally from people who don’t closely follow the sport.

And it’s not entirely wrong, but it’s easily overstated and far from the only factor in why we are where we are. And it’s getting less true all the time.

Any country that criminalizes my existence should be on a blacklist. And no, religious excuses are not justifiable, given all deities and religious laws are human constructs.

    Period.

FIFA - and the national associations, and many entities that make up them - are made up on absolutely corruptible "leaders," many white, many not white at all, due to wholly undemocratic institutions and totally opaque processes. You cannot get the cockroaches and criminals out - as we did - change no institutional system, plug new people in and get a different result. You will get what we've gotten, and the most vulnerable remain so. RIP Andrew Jennings, and we continue to need A Better FIFA (https://thesoccerapprentice.wordpress.com/2014/06/11/a-better-fifa/)

On the point of the money spent, it was questionable domestically in Brazil and Russia because of its domestic socio-economic issues. Qatar, being the unique tiny oil / gas rich country it is, doesn't seem to have a problem taking care of the needs of its tiny population of less than 400k citizens (as far as I know). The foreign workers is obviously another story.

USA is 137th in the world (out of 196) when it comes to homicide rates. Trailed slightly by Afghanistan in 140th. Obviously USA should be stripped of WC 2026 - too dangerous.

By the way Qatar is 15th

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_intentional_homicide_rate

    See how easy that was?

    And?

Nobody here, least of all me as based on my posting history here, is happy about the "homicide rate," or the violence in general, in the US.

What the hell is your actual point?

“Nobody here” is irrelevant, as is being happy about it or not. It’s a comparison of two countries. I’m aware that you’re not the President of the USA.

It’s whether you as a society have the ability to change the situation. Apparently you have a lot of freedoms and the government is for the people. So if public safety is a priority for the people, it should be fairly simple democratic exercise to change things.

There’s a very simple thing the US government can do to reduce homicide rates. Restrict gun ownership like most civilised countries. It won’t do it.

So obviously either all those people who are not happy about the death rates are being oppressed by their government and forced to keep the unpopular second amendment, in which case the logical consequence is that you all should be calling for boycotting the 2026 World Cup.

Or, the US population likes having a society that prioritises “God given rights” over public safety. In which case the logical consequence is that you all should be calling for boycotting the 2026 World Cup on the basis that the country is too dangerous.

Seeing your posts here you sound like the Russian apologists who justify every bad action Russia does

Between it didn't happen(fake), Nazis and very bad whataboutism this is the the same shit you use for Qatar

But I am glad this WC happened because it ensure the world cup never happens in these parts of the world over again.

And you are hilarious with your Muslims see Qatar as a win because all I saw is Qatar promised to not do this and that only to take it back with 2 days to go. That means you agree with lying

Imagine saying all 32 countries fans are welcomed here followed by the screeching "muh rulez" the second those fans arrive. FIFA in all of their corruption still know advertisers and fans are very important so they will not let this sham happen again because believe or not the World Cup is driven by the West.

You know which club you are fan of right? And the country of the club

    Speaking of being honest

Can you explain how can a person live in the west and able to practice all kinds of beliefs for them to find excuses for the home country or like minded countries to have all kinds of backwards laws like you know....modern slavery

HAHA you are precious. The most amazing being you think to got me with the link that says "recent-reforms"

First that is a lie in practice.

    at 14:45 and 21:57

Irrelevant. You attitude towards Qatar is still you go girl. Muslims are proud of Qatar. And you go on the defensive the minute Qatar is attacked for those reasons and say shit like "but what about USA"

I don't care about your home country. My point was the people who enjoy 3425454 freedoms in western countries are defensive of Muslim majority countries like Qatar.

Imagine if Muslims were treated in [insert western countries] like atheists (like me) are treated in [insert 45454 Muslim majority countries]

Heck a live in a backwards Christian country and no one has told me I deserve to go to jail. Called satanist 2 times but who cares as I never feared for my life
