#10 should have gotten a second yellow. You get a caution and immediately try to start shit again? Second caution time.
You obviously haven't been watching this WC. A caution means, "Now you're free to do whatever you want."
Are you talking about the incident at 94:30? Xhaka didn't do anything there, it was Mitrovic if anything who deserved a caution out of that one.
Sounds like there's more to this. It looks like the Swiss captain turned to the bench and grabbed himself while yelling at the player who apparently had reports that his wife was cheating on him in recent days. Puts into perspective why the Serbian bench reacted like they did.
This is all unseemly for an otherwise staid World Cup: https://streamable.com/z9hoos Interesting to note this crew treated the headbutt action the same as Elfath did. Meaning, they didn't deal with it.
El Fath great match my uninformed opinion. Control, smile and getting those yellow cards out early to stop stupid play.
Not a VAR penalty, huh? This seems like a big "uh-oh" given what we've seen called for the last four years: https://streamable.com/nipx8g It may not be a stretch to say that, after some relatively clean officiating up to this point, both Serbia and Uruguay have strong arguments for saying officiating decisions wrongly knocked them out of the tournament (notwithstanding, of course, the possibility they would have missed their penalties).
Holy smokes, I didn't see that! I was focusing on the shirt pull when Mitrovic went down theatrically. I didn't even think about the handball appeal. Pre-VAR, it's not even a talking point. With VAR, depending on the nation, it's absolutely scandalous! Yeah, that's bad!
This is a problem. What I can't tell is whether or not that camera was part of the FIFA feed or not. This might be Baharmast Part Deux. Though, you know, the opposite. But if Vigliano had that camera angle available, we are about to find out how indispensable he is.
What minute was that? BTW If Serbia had won then Cameroon would have progressed. Serbia would have had to win by 2-3 goals.
64' or 65' And I jumped the gun on the Serbia advancement thing. I guess 3-3 actually kept Switzerland going through anyway, huh? Still, in a heated match like that a clear missed penalty by Vigliano is a huge problem. Whether it wrongly eliminated a team or not.
3:3 had both Cameroon and Switzerland at 4 pts with 0 GD and 4 GS/GC, but Swiss ahead because they beat Cameroon. It might have made the Cameroon match more interesting after the Aboubakar goal, because they then had 6 minutes to score a second. Would have also made Aboubakar's red look much more stupid. Also at 3:3 and needing a goal to progress would have changed the dynamic of game in Serbia-Switzerland. Who knows? Maybe then Serbia would win?
I'm pretty sure that incident was in 65'. Mitrovic (Serbia #9) cramped up and stayed down in the penalty area. One of the Swiss players helped him. The referee stopped play for the injury. Then the Serbian bench blew up. The referee cautioned the Serbian backup goalkeeper. Play restarted with a dropped ball to Switzerland. So a lot to process.
I have been waiting all day (and it’s now after midnight) to hit you all with this one. “That Swiss Match was great for the neutrals.” (I’m doing two shows Saturday, don’t forget to tip your waitresses and bartenders!)
They both deservedly received a caution and a speaking to. The moment the ref stopped talking to them. Xhaka ran 10 yards towards the opponent and started yapping again. He just got a warning and didn’t modify his behavior. Time to go. Second caution should have been given to Xhaka
