Kudos to Berhalter for getting a team with strong midfield play but we need someone to figure out the rest of the puzzle.

    I'll disagree with you here.

    * on the first goal, it's on Adams to hustle back to cut off Memphis.

    * on the second goal, it's on Dest to get to the spot before Blind.

I don't know what Berhalter is supposed to do to prevent those goals if the players don't anticipate and hustle.

I was there, too. Until Depay came on in their 2nd match (?) and scored that critical goal (at least that is my interpretation). That changed my view of them. It would not surprise me to see them in the final.

I normally am pretty tolerant, but calling Gregg a moron is sort of crossing the line. Can’t we hold off on the pure vitriol for a few days?

We made it through our group. This is our first loss. It is not all doom and gloom.

Great self-awareness on the part of Tyler Adams in his postgame. He knows just what happened today: We got outplayed by a more experienced side. A little lesson from The School of Hard Knocks.

    The future is bright.

Yeah, this world cup showed how the groups of 4 with only 2 teams going through is about as ideal as you can get as far as eliminating 'dead' matches/making sure the 3rd games matter. And I think's it's really important that everyone who qualifies for the world cup get 3 group games, or this becomes more like a pure knockout tournament/will cause the world cup to lose some luster.

I'm still hoping FIFA changes that format. Maybe goes to 8 groups of 6 (swiss format, or where each group of 6 is split into 2 groups of 3, where 1,4,5 each play 2,3,6).

Agreed. But not much Berhalter can do about that....he's got to work with the players he has....not sure anybody left off would have made the situation any better. Maybe Pepi or Pefok would have played better than Sargent/Wright/Ferreria, maybe not.....we'll never know.

The job for the next cycle is to develop better quality depth so that we CAN rotate key players without suffering a huge drop off in quality.

It's the coach's third WC along with a few of their players. Others have been there twice. We had what 2 guys with that under their belt. Now we got a few more!

Reyna didn’t look better than Ferreira? You really think that?

I respectfully disagree. They made mistakes, our guys just didn't punish them for it. They almost gifted Haji a goal and he fumbled it.

I think Jedi was gassed… many of our players were on empty. The legs gave out.

Ferreria was effective linking up in the first half....Reyna in the second half dribbled a lot into traffic and then lost the ball. Neither created any real chances.

He mismanaged a lot through the whole cycle. Did a lot right, too, but his potential as a manager is limited.

How do you figure their game plan treated us with respect? I believe it shows the opposite... They had no fear of us holding possession. Because they knew our weakness is in the box. They had no fear of our back 4. They had confidence that their attacking counter trio was better than our back defending trio(no matter if it was jedi or dest or even adams[i love him tho cant wait to follow his career{arsenal fan myself} and that they would convert their early chances.

This game was dominated before kickoff.

To say nothing of Blind keeping CP onside in the 4' and CP being unable to beat the keeper...
