Serbia dodged a bullet when Brazil got that late goal against the Swiss. Without it, Serbia would have had to not just beat the Swiss but by two goals.
Gosh I hope that Serbia can win this. It’ll be tough and I feel like Serbia has become the AS Roma or Arsenal of National Teams. It’s like they play well in some games but they can throw away leads an be embarrassing in other games. Serbia definitely have the quality but do they have the smart play and tactics? That’s a different story.
This Ghana/Costa Rica level defending of Serbia 3 dodgy CBs, 2 strikers, very offensive wingbacks. Not sustainable.
Alongside Uruguay other team happy to see out. And bottom of the group at that! Worst defence of the competition. Maybe save Costa Rica.
I was so close to falling for the Serbia hype again after WC 2006, 2010 & 2018. But those teams had great defenders and ok forwards, and still didn't advance. This time, I just didn't think you can make a deep run with someone like Strahinja Pavlović. I obviously love Nikola Milenković, but he was not very good this tournament sadly.
