Tyler Boyd wasn't registered as a foreign player by Besiktas for the first half of the season, as there are foreign player restrictions. So while I assume he still gets his wages, he's not eligible to play until Jan 12, 2023. Bad situation for him, the same thing happened to him last season too. I think Besiktas had tried to transfer him ahead of the season, but Boyd couldn't find a team he liked or wouldn't take a wage cut. So Besiktas might have "punished" him by refusing to register him for the first half of the season. https://www-sporx-com.translate.goo...tr_sl=tr&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=sc
If he can get it... I can't see an MLS team paying a lot for him. 28 years old this month, crappy numbers amongst limited playing time in Turkey the past 2+ seasons. There should be some degree of interest among some MLS teams but it'll be a low number. I curious if tries an Asian league or tries the A-League again.
He was definitely a solid MLS-quality attacker the last times I saw him play. If he needs "MLS superstar" wages to come, I can see it being a difficult sell, but if it's just "good MLS starter" wages or a bit more, seems like a reasonable play for a team needing another attacker.
With his contract terminated at Besiktas in mid-November, I've heard American winger Tyler Boyd (27 years old, 10 #USMNT caps) has interest from a few MLS teams. There is dialogue but nothing is concrete yet (also interest in Turkey, Mexico. His preference is to play in the USA)— Brian Sciaretta (@BrianSciaretta) December 2, 2022
LA bound? Kevin Baxter @kbaxter11 Former @USMNT winger Tyler Boyd is reportedly in LA to undergo a physical ahead of a possible signing with the @LAGalaxy The team declined comment
He grew up a Galaxy fan living in the area. He's wanted to move to the USA with his new American wife. Seems like a good fit.
