This is hilarious because when my son first made ODP as a U12, we actually had a coach who stressed possession, and we won a couple of ODP regionals playing keep ball until we scored and then playing keep ball after we scored.

As the kids got bigger and puberty started hitting some of them, the coaches for U14, U15, stressed size and physicality ---- hit and run. Really frustrating to watch.

I think their league has the most lucrative TV contract in the Western hemisphere, thanks to Mexican immigration to the US.

I think Mexico considers itself the best of the bunch outside of CONMEBOL in the hemisphere. So having the US advance and they go home must be a real kick in the pelvis.

Even worse, then, that they can't manage a proper single table. We never had that chance, since MLS was thrown together within a year or so after the '94 Cup.

You know what the so-called "Royals" look like, right?

    Right?
    Right. :D

A mongrel here and there keeps that from happening. I'm halfway surprised nobody's come out of Buckingham Palace with three ears...

A top-form Senegal or Portugal would destroy Mexico. So would Spain, or England. Morocco would pull a draw most days.

Mexico seems to always get a group where they're facing two good UEFA teams. The US got a group where they were one of the two big teams. That group had two UEFA teams, but Wales is a minnow.

Well, the US does seem to rise to the occasion...unless we play a 3-6-1.

The French have two World Cups and a continental championship to England's one and none.
They didn't get those wins by starting chinless, onion-scented mother******s better suited to carrying bread loaves on a bicycle from Point A to Point B

This is why the Euros is generally a higher quality tournament than the world cup - as I understand it, the point of the world cup is not that only the best teams qualify - though obviously it seems stupid when teams like Italy don't qualify after winning the euros
