I expect Deschamps to play a weakened team, but I still don't think Tunisia get more than a draw at best. They're just not very good.

Yeah, but Tunisia’s attack is poor. They might a draw though.

Well, your reversed predictions aren't doing much much better either.

Being 29th among 33 members is really nothing to write home about.

But as we saw today everything can change very quick.

Yeah but it’s the World Cup Pugh. Very hard to predict. The thing is I know upsets will happen but the question is which ones? I often get my upsets wrong.

You allowed your feelings to get the better of yourself by predicting France to crash out in the group stage. And that prediction wasn't based purely on footballing terms as we all know.

France are one of the favourites to win it. I think offensively they look better than in 2018.
Question marks remain about their capacity to controll the midfield against better teams. Kante and Pogba did an excellent job in Russia in that area.

Me neither, but never in a million years I thought that Argentina was going to lose to Saudi Arabia yet here we are.

The way the refs are always favouring Argentina since matchday 01, I doubt that would happen

Remember I told people Qatar was going to be a world cup like no other.

So far that has been correct.

Saudi Arabia pull off the greatest upset in history and beat Argentina, yet finish bottom of an easy group.

Tunisia beat France and draw Denmark but go out to Australia.

Japan beat Germany but lose to Costa Rica.

This has been a widely entertaining WC. So much drama, and truly so many surprises.

I dont think we are finished yet. We may see a surprise semi Finalist.

Argentina's section looks very easy all of a sudden. Aus next then maybe Holland ( Holland is not looking good ) .
Their next tough opponent is Brazil I guess in SF ( If Brazil gets there ) .

Back in the main forum. Arabia game was a fluke and the match didnt mean anything at all in the end. Today, Argentina the Copa America champions showed up...played great, dominated, attack!! Great all around!!:thumbsup:

    1st in group!!

Don't want to go over the top here but if my prediction of 3 African teams and USA in the last 16 as favourites vs the Netherlands I won't be terrified if one of these 4 teams will break the UEFA and CONMEBOL monopoly of semifinals.

Holland's section got much tougher though.

Potential Senegal - France 1/4 final in the cards. And France has a very poor tournament track record against African teams (worst among top nations).

3 wins (one of those vs Togo), 3 losses.

    Senegal with easiest shout.

Ghana will likely get Brasil, while Morocco Germany/Spain.

Edit: Hoping that Japan pull off another shock though and Morocco get Japan.

We already have one team qualified from each one of the pots, here's the breakdown:

    Teams already qualified (10)
    Pot 1
(5): England, Argentina, France, Brazil, Portugal
    Pot 2 (2): USA, Netherlands
    Pot 3 (2): Poland, Senegal
    Pot 4 (1): Australia

    Teams already eliminated (9)
    Pot 1
    (1): Qatar
    Pot 2 (2): Mexico, Denmark
    Pot 3 (2): Iran, Tunisia
Pot 4 (4): Ecuador, Wales, Canada, Saudi Arabia

Remaining teams not yet qualified nor eliminated (13)
    Pot 1
    (2): Spain, Belgium
Pot 2 (4): Germany, Croatia, Switzerland, Uruguay
Pot 3 (4): Japan, Morocco, Serbia, South Korea
Pot 4 (3): Costa Rica, Cameroon, Ghana

Belgium seems likely to be the only pot 1 team (besides Qatar) that is going to be eliminated in the group stage unless Japan and Costa Rica give a big surprise tomorrow.
