It is insane that we've lost not one, not two, but three quality fullbacks on free transfers in just the last 5 years. As short supply as they are in, it's inexcusable that Vangioni, Angileri and Mayada all left without a penny for the club. Casco is a better RB than Herrera and a better LB than Gómez in his 30s. We're boned on the flanks.
Adios El Muñeco - you will be missed. IMO, Gallardo is the best Argentinean manager right now. There will be a European club very happy next season
No doubt, I expect him to settle into European football by July (assuming he doesn't get hired in the winter window). In replacement news, Demichelis seems to be leading the pack, and I'm relatively pleased with the idea. Succeeding Gallardo is sure to be a daunting task for any manager, but I've heard really good things about Demi's management of Bayern's Reserve and youth teams up to now.
Julian was spectacular today. Enzo F was very good as usual too. Glad to see they seem to be such good friends. Good to see Pezzella get some minutes. IMO, he is better than either Romero or Otamendi. I wasn't around when Gallardo said his good bye. He will be missed. He changed the history of this club. Gracias, Napoleon.
The World Cup shouldn't be a distraction for the real show that starts next year. Mexican press reporting it as a done deal now https://www.tudn.com/futbol/liga-mx/rayados-completa-pase-matias-kranevitter-river-plate-argentina Kranevitter should be returning to River to fill in the void left by Ponzio's retirement. Vamos Krane!
Otamendi should come after the WC as he originally planned to, but now that Benfica is actually playing good for once he’s more than likely just going to stay there til June. Hopefully Quintero renews.. he’s in a league of his own, and if they let him go just to be cheap they’re going to end up spending double on a random flop
IMO Quintero will not be back. He is great and we should build team around him, but I don't think he is willing. I may be wrong, but the guy always seems to be partying some where and not at training. If Quintero wants to come to River and put in the work, he is the most talented player in Argentina, but I just get the feeling he'd rather be at Inter Miami
I know this post is from a long time ago, but I've been away from the forum. It reminds me that also Marcelo Saracchi was sold after only 6 months- 6 great months- and has had an anonymous time in Europe. He should have been kept and then sold for more later. He would have been a major asset
"Micho" Demichelis is currently working on a 3-1-3-3 according Sebastian Srur. 🚨#River | Demichelis está probando jugar con un 3-1-3-3.ℹ️ @Sebasrur pic.twitter.com/BTPI7dhXtz— 𝙇𝙀𝘼𝙉𝘿𝙍𝙊 (@xLeandro7) December 15, 2022 I really like that, this would be like a 3-4-3 Diamond in Barca Style, as we know Micho is a fan of the Pep Guardiola Style. - Demichelis: “Nunca he trabajado con Pep Guardiola, pero soy un gran admirador suyo” https://argentina.as.com/futbol/dem...-guardiola-pero-soy-un-gran-admirador-suyo-n/ - Demichelis on having a co-coach in Danny Schwarz: “Danny loves Pep Guardiola’s coaching philosophy as much as I do. Alongside our assistants Stefan Buck and Christian Saba, we work really well and in harmony together. We benefit from the fact we all have the same game philosophy.” https://www.bundesliga.com/en/bunde...nich-reserve-team-coach-messi-argentina-15304 etc This 3-1-3-3/3-4-3Diamond is basically a Cryuff-Style that Guardiola implemented with his own touch at Barca (the "1-3" part of the 3-1-3-3 would be the "4" of the 3-4-3 Diamond, so basically 1-3 = 4D, hope we have no mathematician here...). I would look like that: https://spielverlagerung.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2021/03/Barca-2011.png https://spielverlagerung.de/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/MF-Anzahl-Systemvergleich-284x427.gif https://spielverlagerung.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2021/03/Typical-3-d-3-positioning.png https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/uBR2py2CCg4o2FGFqXuCNC-1200-80.jpg Tactically we would focus on the Assist-V shape when we have to ball which would be the focus: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Dyk8rfZW0AM_rFS.jpg https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D-AiXxdXUAE8jss.jpg Would look like: https://footballbh.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/4-8.png https://footballbh.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/8-7.png https://footballbh.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/3-7.png At defending the defensive midfielder would join the back line with the 3 defenders so we would have 4 defenders in a line and built a 4-3-3, when we have the ball we switch back to 3-1-3-3/3-4-3Diamond. So basically a switch between 3-1-3-3/3-4-3Diamond at attacking and 4-3-3 at defending. Maybe that will be the role of Matias Kranevitter and Felipe Peña Biafore as back up, to play a key role as "connector" (lets call it that way). Micho had this system also at Bayern2 coach several times, but mainly he played 4-3-3 (which changed at attacking in a 3-2-5 way). https://www.transfermarkt.es/spielbericht/index/spielbericht/3595648 https://www.transfermarkt.es/spielbericht/index/spielbericht/3595365 For me this is a very interesting system which would fit to our River-Dna of football.
That picture is amazing. I seriously wonder how much Enzo Fernandez would have been worth if we had kept him through the World Cup. Benfica is going to cash in on him and make so much money, but it is frustrating how we sell our guys for peanuts. I think @SupaMario was talking about nationalities of players and how much they are worth and I will say that I don't think Argentine players are undervalued based on nationality, especially now we've won the World Cup all these players are going to be worth even more. The problem is Argentine clubs gifting players to Europe for peanuts only to see them sold on for so much more. Yes, the clubs and country are in financial crisis constantly, but the likes of Brito need to be firmer in these transfer fees especially when you knew the type of crack Enzo was. Julian Alvarez is sort of the same situation, but different bc he was sold almost a full year ago and I also don't think he will leave Man City any time soon, maybe to real Madrid in 5 years if he keeps up on this trajectory. Enzo on the other hand is sad... We barely enjoyed him at River and Benfica was always going to be a stepping stone club for him.
First friendly of preseason and I really like the looks of the team, without Gonzalez Pirez of course. Ezequiel Centurión; Emanuel Mammana, Robert Rojas, Leandro González Pirez; Matías Kranevitter; Santiago Simón, Enzo Pérez, Agustín Palavecino; Pablo Solari, Miguel Borja y Esequiel Barco. Now how do you form the team with Nacho F and De La Cruz? Could you possibly play with them plus the three up top? Against the small team in El Monumental, why not. Its exciting to have a coach with such an attacking philosophy who doesn't seem to be a charlatan/smoke seller like Cappa.
Now that's a lovely problem to have: how to fit De la Cruz, Nacho Fernandez, Agustín Palavecino and Santiago Simón into a single squad. I suspect Simón is going to wind up 4th in the attacking midfielder pecking order, or 3rd in the holding/box-to-box midfielder pecking order (behind Enzo and Krane).
Kranevitter had his ankle broken. Completely reckless, unnecessary challenge by the Chilean. Really disgusting. I did not see the match, but it seems the whole match featured constant fouling by the chilean team. Really upsetting news. I cannot understand the attitude of this team playing River and going into a preseason friendly and fouling non stop and rough house tactics. Completely disgusting in all honestly. Demichelis was not pleased in the manner the match was played. Heartbreaking for Krane. Fuerza!
River to receive about €41M for Enzo Fernández’s transfer to Chelsea, on top of the other €18M River received for Enzo's 75% ownership back in September. In total, River would receive about €57-59ish Millions. In addition, per FIFA rules, the River Plate youth system is entitled to formation fees for developing him. Hopefully AFIP won't take too much, and hopefully most of the €€ will be spend on player development.
They’re getting more than $20m Brito confirmed River will receive $24.7m from the deal, to be paid in multi-year installments
From a tactical point of view, we may point out that (with the ball) Demichelis wants to play a 3-1-3-3. I did some Screenshots from the frist half against Belgrano to visualize: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FoXj3joXoAA2y-4?format=jpg&name=large https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FoXj3jEWIAIUE6u?format=jpg&name=large https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FoXj3jPXoAExM2L?format=jpg&name=medium It is not that kind of "classical" 3-1-3-3 as expected (which i mentioned before), but a bit different style. The central defender of the 3 defenders moves a bit forward like a sweeper/libero and is more involved in the passing game then the other defenders, he supports the central midfielder with the build up and is offering creativity. In front of the central midfielder in a role as deep-lying-playmaker, you have another central midfield as playmaker with a mainly offensive role and lower defensive responsibility. So you generally have 3 players in the middle for the creativity, to deliver passes and control (sweeper/libero, deep-lying-playmaker and offensive cm or play maker). Also as possible contact points " to widen" the offensiv play, our right-back and left-back move forward as wingers. Then there are our 3 forwards which we need to deliver with passes and to put in action.
In addition this could be the tactical approch on a tactical board (of course you can change the names/players like Simon as right back/winger, Kranevitter etc): River Plate 2023 - Demichelis 4-2-1-3 / 3-1-3-3 pic.twitter.com/djjuTPEsgW— taktikinho (@taktikinho) February 7, 2023
Demichelis is slowly building the team and learning from mistakes. He made an error by playing Enzo Diaz at center back, he has been fantastic since playing in his natural position of LB. He also was stupid about benching Beltran.... Since he has gotten into the line up, he hasn't looked back. Now the guy is probably the best striker in the league at the moment. To think at the time of the belgrano game, he was the third option behind Borja and Rondon. I don't know how far this team can go, but Martin has impressed me so far. He seems to learn from his mistakes, which is good. The only worry is injuries still seem to plague the team whoever the manager is. Mammanna and De La Cruz plagued by injuries. We need them both back for Libertadores. If Mammanna is not recovered, I'd prefer putting Rojas at CB with Paulo Diaz instead of Gonzalez Pirez
I always knew that it was going to be a process after Gallardo, but I too have been impressed with how Demichelis has made pivots in his tactics and learned from mistakes. I am getting more bullish and I am now getting to the point that I am expecting silverware this year.
