Mansueto $25k donation to Lightfoot announced

not long after the training facility project passed council and on the day she files for reelection

still really wish the Fire were not taking that land

It’s mostly unusable land. I’m sure more details will come to light as the process moves on but it’s need for remediation is pretty severe.

  3. Making that campaign contribution is a bad look for sure. The real beef is that the CHA has done diddly squat with that land for years. CPS, which the mayor supposedly controls didn't play ball with the Belmont-Craigin proposal. The CHA played ball but they have been such a crappy agency since forever hardly makes them a good public steward. It seems it's damn near impossible to find a 25-30 acre location in a half decent location that everyone can get behind. No doubt this will be an issue for Mayor Long Schlong.

I think it is absolutely true that CHA botched things badly on the site

that said, I still wish the team I cheer for didn't take advantage that fact

What is the issue? Aside from people parroting the fact that there is an issue.

    $25k is all it took?
Nah, that's found in the couch money at one of Papa Joe's extra houses.

I can't say. I believe he's contributed to Rauner and also some Democrats. Mansueto doesn't seem to be a big player, or ideologue so $25k might be his biggest ever contribution.

He contributed $150k to Rahm Emmanuel It's sketchy, but he might have also contributed 6 figures to Rauner.

Then pretty clearly the donation is a non-starter. I don’t think anyone will care about that.

I mean, she endorsed it months ago. Her office has been involved since January, and probably longer. She was involved when they were looking at the Belmont-Craigan site.

It’s not like the money dropped and she flipped her opinion. And Joe gave six times that to Racist Rahm. Anyone using that fake headline you posted would of course be lying. And let’s face it, Lightfoot has much larger issues chasing her around. No, I don’t think that’s going to be an issue.

I hear a lot of squawking but no real details about specific issues. Local residence councils signed off on it. The CHA wants it. The alderman of the area and other aread approve. I don’t think the mayor gets buy-in from all of these groups because of a $25k campaign contribution. But why then, do they all approve?

I think the core issue is that there isn’t enough affordable housing in the city but this plan brings and rehabilitates more affordable housing. That’s a good thing.

  14. I've read about guys like Sigcho-Lopez sniping at her. In the end the contribution may not change a lot for MLL or the project, but it hasn't gone unnoticed. At this point, MLL needs every vote she can get. It will come down to her & Chuy and I believe there will be more flak of her about this, than Chuy will get over FTX/Bankman-Fried. We'll find out soon enough.

Raymond Anthony Lopez (born May 26, 1978) is an American politician who is currently a member of the Chicago City Council serving as alderman of the 15th Ward in Chicago, Illinois. He is a candidate for mayor of Chicagoin the 2023 mayoral election.”

We should ask the Chicago’s Board of Ethics and inspector general to investigate Ray for wasting the Board and Inspector’s time in an attempt to personally benefit his election campaign.

This is such great news! Love Zach! I remember my buddy catching his glove that he threw into the crowd after we won the 2000 US Open Cup!

Has there been any mention of possible new jersey sponsors for 2023? I presume Motorola won't renew.
