That would teach Mexico not to be so naughty anymore.

There would be such a poetic justice in Mexico being eliminated due to dirty play (assuming the yellows were deserved) (sorry, not sorry).

Doesn’t seem fair when officiating crews differ by game and some can be more card happy than others.

That's another advantage of making refereeing completely computerized: ALL referees would be the same software, across all games. So basically all the rules will be enforced equally, achieving perfect fairness.

Agree with this 100%. I think the "fair play" tie-breaker is stupid.

Nah, Poland is in an impossible position. They've got a world class keeper and striker and a bunch of nothing inbetween. They cannot play Argentina heads up, even in their dreams. They had to play defensive and hope their keeper stood on their head or Lewa could bury the one counterattacking chance he had.

That was their chance. No other options. It's like us against Brazil with Tab Ramos out in 1994. Hope and a prayer time.

I imagine there's at least another goal in these games, but I'll say that having watched Mexico play for 30 years now, I can confidently say that their team getting eliminated from the world cup based on card accumulation would be cosmic justice on a delicious scale.
