Match #39 - Poland v. Argentina

Poland will wear white, Argentina to wear blue.

 

I expect Poland to play similarly to how Mexico did against Argentina, it won't be easy for Argentina to score.

One thing we can be sure of--Poland won't play out of the back. Szczęsny will be punting the ball down the field all match long.

 

As much as I love Messi, I'm rooting for Poland because Argentina NOT winning the group could potentially result in a much easier QF matchup for the US if they can get past Holland

Yeah that quadrant is suddenly looking very winnable. Argentina, Holland, Denmark all not playing that well.

 

Argentina being very disrespectful of rival in pregame, so I'm all for Poland.

Defending so deep Poland hasn't the minimal chance to avoid a heavy defeat against Argentina.

 

Argentina is playing without any intensity though. The pace is plotting and incredibly slow which makes it very comfortable for Poland to defend deep.

Usually the weakness of defending that deep is that the opponent is tiring you out by constantly making the defensive lines move from one side to the other.

Argentina pretty much started ramping up after I made that post. There was a 10min period where basically nothing happened and there was no intensity in the game.

 

That was the worst penalty decision I've ever seen.
