I dream of Deuce taking the segment notes, rolling them up like a news paper, and bopping Alexi on the nose while yelling "NO, BAD" in his signature Texan drawl.

It's funny now that I see what a funny, engaging guy Dempsey is but for years I thought he was a silent, intense guy because of how he played and stories like where he got into a fight at a Rev's practice and tore up a teammate. My money's on him in real fight against anyone else in that room. I bet Lalas knows it too and won't go far enough where Mad Clint is forced to surface.

Apparently in France the broadcast ended before VAR took the goal away, so a good number of French probably don't know their team lost yet

This is going to be great. I'm usually good at knowing how all the tiebreakers work but all four teams are so bunched up together I don't know which way this will go.

Weird, but probably justified, to see Hector Herrera benched for a crucial game. He fell off hard.

I don't think this is a good Mexico team, but I continue to think they can easily win and get the results they need today.

It mostly depends on whether Argentina will be brilliant or clunky today.

The atmosphere in this game is unbelievable.

That's gotta lift these Saudi players.

Saudi Arabia has been alot better than I expected. Based on past World Cups and the fact that I think their entire team is domestically based, I really didn't expect a ton from them.

Argentina dominating the game with pretty soccer, so Poland is going to win.

Saudi Arabia was very good at home during qualifying. They are the de facto hosts here, so I’m not that surprised they are a tough out.

The international game is a different animal, often familiarity trumps individual quality.

In all of these matches we've seen the big teams miss clear chances they should have buried, over and over. Just happened with Argentina. I have to remind myself it happens to everyone and not just us. It's out of love, but we can be so hard on our team...

Polish players looking like deer in the headlights. Nearly an Olympic from a Di Maria corner.

I like how Mexico is playing today.

As is typical, no finishing yet.

What a save by the GK. Mexico qualifying is inevitable.
