Netherlands have a solid defense, but they also didn't set the group stage on fire. They do not have a very potent goal scorer and I think US is no worse in the middle. If CP is healthy, I don't see why US can't advance. I'm not saying they SHOULD, but that they CAN. England, on the other hand, SHOULD advance, but again, I won't be shocked if Senegal pulls an upset. Southgate is not a great manager.
I will let Gakpo know. I mean the group stages are never really on fire. You cannot asses too much from the group stages. The Netherlands have some players. Virgil et al at the back. De Jong in the middle. Depay. They have a fluid way of playing. That whole total football thing. The dutch spine is strong. I mean I am not going to over analyze - but it is the USA that doesnt have a goal scorer - judging by the results in the group stages - 2 goals total in 3 games for the USA. Gakpo has 3 goals which is MORE than the entire USA team.
Yes, I am not Southgate's biggest fan. But, the results are good overall, World Cup semi and Euro final. But yeah, I think Southgate is out of tactical ideas. I have a soft spot for Senegal. Senegal V USA would be a good game to see. Why can't we just have more football?
