The money should be separate for sure let each team generate whatever the market brings and split it accordingly to those players . women’s team is good and they were definitely underpaid but it has nothing to do with the men’s team it had to do with ppl in offices putting more money in their pockets. Wnba players will never make what nba players make and each have nothing to do with each other . That being said if wnba players are underpaid then someone is overpaid and it has nothing to do with nba players
So tired of hearing the crybabies at USWNT complain about money. You dont have as much of a demand so you dont get as much money. Its called economics. Deal with it.
Yes and no. FIFA proports to be a non-profit organization. (Laugh laugh ha ha.) If that really is the case, then the amount of money brought in shouldn't really be relevant to that. If they expect everyone to believe that they're there for the good of the game everywhere, they SHOULD pay the men and the women equally. But as long as they DON'T, I think it's stupid to expect the USSF or the USMNT to do it themselves.
Because I don't really pay attention to this issue, just which women will pocket that $6.5M? I understand the basic structural differences that have existed between the USMNT and USWNT. The men aren't a team at all but, of course, are individuals who play for various professional clubs around the world. If they get called up to a camp, they get X amount of compensation. If they actually play in games, they get Y amount. If they're on a roster that wins money from tournament play, they get a share of the Z pot of cash. You know, generally speaking. The USWNT has players under contract to the USSF who earn a negotiated salary and get other benefits. So, again, who gets the pay-out for the women? Just those players under USSF contract? Flipped around the other way, if it were the women in a tournament where they won a pot of cash, would the men get a share? If so, who would get it, since there is no actual men's team?
FIFA distributes money from the tournament to the teams which qualified to compensate their players. They also reserve some of the profits for the federations which didn't qualify so El Salvador, Fiji, Uganda, etc get some money from FIFA to their soccer federations to support the game in their countries. Don't ask too many questions about whose pockets the money lands in though.
Netherlands is beatable. They're not as good as England. Gakpo is hot right now and Depaay is dangerous by US standards. But they've gone downhill from the days of Robben.
The USMNTPA were the ones who publicly came out and supported equal pay during the dispute. It's their choice to do what they want with their money even though the women weren't honest throughout the ordeal. Margaret Cho is the worst comedian of all time.
Second place was expected. It was neither overachieving nor underachieving according to the bookies. Doesn't change the fact that we have a difficult time scoring.
And yet, somehow, US Soccer is in such dire straights they were sending me multiple emails begging me for my money for "Giving Tuesday" the past couple days.
But on to more important matters: I have a love-hate relationship with Robinson right now. Love his motor. But dang his touch is atrocious. Carter-Vickers (sp?) made me nervous. Though he was going to give up penalties. There were a number of times in real-time that it looked boarderline on him, but really, in the replays the non-calls seemed obviously correct. That said, he put himself in position to get calls against himself with a more whistle happy ref. Agree with many praising this team, 1 goal against in group stage is incredible. The fact that it came on a PK and they allowed no goals from the run of play should be a huge badge of honor. Also agree with a lot of the detractors. Three really solid 1st halves. 2 god-awful second halves and one okay second half. The fact that they can't seem to figure out how to play with a lead is a worrisome problem. Subs yesterday were awful. I like me some Aaronson, but probably his worst game that I've seen lately. Thought Zimmerman did the best of all of them.
none Of course I'm a contrarian jerk, so I won't donate when it's a "thing" (like giving tuesday). That said, I've never donated to US Soccer even when it's not a thing.
FIFA as an organization is different in structure from the member federations making it up, and different still from the employees making up the member federations.
So you're saying that all members of the current player pool would split the money equally? Its a sincere question. Yes, there's a union. but how is membership defined? Is Zardes still a member? There's a clear difference between being a member of the union and being a temporary member of the actually team: getting call-ups and playing time. No one is a guaranteed member of the USMNT. And monetary earnings from call-ups and tournaments is limited to players actually taking part, correct? Not the larger union membership. And what about the women? The USSF has X number of women under contract to the USWNT, right? Is that the limit of the women's union?
So? It’s the World Cup. It’s not supposed to be easy to score. Did you think we were going to be able to play a style where we would pitch two shutouts and light up the scoreboards at the same time?
France got blanked by Tunisia. Berhalter continues to hold this French team back with his regressive tactics.
So having two shots on goal from the first two games isn't exactly eye pleasing. Anyone who has watched a Berhalter club team has had this discussion before.
I look forward to the day when the US wins its first two group games in a World Cup and already has the group locked up before the 3rd match.
Equal pay, right? Wouldn't that work both ways? If the women are sitting at home watching on TV, clearly, Christian Pulisic or whoever is entitled to some of the cash that Rose Lavelle would earn when she scores a hat trick in the opening round vs Suriname, Latvia or whatever unfortunate souls get drawn. (BTW, it's utterly ridiculous that a guy watching a WWC game on TV should get paid for the accomplishments of a women's team he's not on.) I'm just in before someone complains about what they asked for and received.
Who gives anything resembling a shit? Do you want to look good, or do you want to advance? Maybe we should hire Tata Martino. He's going to be available. Or Herdmann. I hear his Canada team is pretty good.
I'm just going to repeat this because I haven't seen nearly enough people delete their accounts. There were a lot. A LOT of people who thought the US had made a fatal mistake by not hiring Tata Martino. That Gregg Berhalter was nothing more than a nepotism hire, that it was incredibly regressive, that he wouldn't call up European players because it was an MLS conspiracy, he would undoubtedly be exposed and outcoached and humiliated and needed fired immediately because he didnt call up John Brooks or whatever jamoke was farting around in Austria instead of player X from MLS. One team qualified from Concacaf for the round of 16. Just one. And I still get on here see clowns acting like Berhalter has done nothing more that what he should have. They just let people put whatever on the internet these days I guess.
