If Gregg actually cares what people think about him on Twitter, we have a REAL reason to start a “Fire Him” thread.

That’s nice. Personally I loved Zimmerman coming on and destroying Iran’s aerial game. And Wright was the worst game killer brought on and I’m pretty sure Turkey doesn’t have an MLS team.

    1. It really was an extreme park the bus strategy, and implemented early given the stoppage time patterns in this Cup.
    2. But guys, we won. I agree with the general sentiment of Twitter that the subs, in MY OPINION, made it harder for us to see out the game. But we got it done, right?

Imagine hating your life so much that you can't enjoy winning a World Cup game.
All you can think about is reasons to be negative, and then feel the need to broadcast those thoughts to the world.

Man. You are so correct. The amount of negativity I've seen from US "fans" after that game makes me wonder why they watch.

Well on this site and elsewhere I saw self professed USMNT fans admitting they were rooting for the team to be embarrassed due to their dislike of Berhalter and MLS. So that’s why they were watching, and that’s what they didn’t get.

I'm still reveling in the fact that outside a few bad moments, we were arguably the best team in our group that included England.

I said to my wife last night, I cannot believe how far we've come and how enjoyable it was to watch with my 11 and 12 year old kids. It was absolutely electric and I'm still pumped.

Those were all valid concerns during the game but hey--we won, and it's over.

Everything good in the game is the players
    Everything bad is the coach
Repeat ad nauseam game after game

Shots are off target? It's the coach.
Players get tired? It's the coach
Subs aren't as good as the starters? It's the coach

We have 9 players who have started all three games. Multiple players have not been playing 90s for their clubs or are coming off injuries. Our midfield 3 play like a pack of wild dogs.

Why is it controversial that we transitioned into a defensive setup to protect our lead in a game that we won?

Imagine hating your life so much you need to denigrate others and broadcast your thoughts on how someone else chooses to engage with entertainment.

At least the people you pity are talking about soccer. You’re just talking about them. That’s sad as ******** for you.

Not sure about that. England beat Iran by four goals and Wales by three. Had they scored three goals less in both of those matches, they'd still have advanced. We didn't even score three goals in the group stages, and have zero from set pieces.

And we've only allowed 1 goal which was from a penalty. We also scored twice as many as we've allowed. I'd like to score more but he's prioritized defense and that's ok. Guys will bitch about anything.
Zero goals allowed from the run of play in the group stage. That's a major accomplishment whether some want to acknowledge it or not.

This is a little rough, but I get the message.

There is a little too much rescuing or pearl clutching whenever someone posts a negative remark about the team. We are like the Stepford house wives of the soccer community. It’s as though it must be positive all the time, or that means you’re a miserable person who hates your life. No, it doesn’t. It just means that I’m talking about soccer and where I want to see improvement. That’s the entertainment part of following a sport.

To me, that’s what it means to be a fan. You critique when it’s time to critique. You praise when it’s time to praise. Furthermore, you find reason to critique although it’s time to praise, and you find reason to praise although it’s time to critique.

That said, I get it if I was making nasty, below the belt remarks about a person, their character, or their family. For example, I’m not going to say something way below the belt like, man that player sucks, I hope his wife leaves him, his dog dies, and his world falls apart. That would, of course, be unnecessary and rude. But saying, man, so and so sucked today, or so and so isn’t up to par. Come on. That’s just fan talk.

But it is annoying when fans make it about other fans rather than about the sport.

Lastly, let me just say, I really hope that the USMNT, coach and players, know better than to get down about what a bunch of online fans are saying about their performance. I’d say to them, just play the game. Do your best. Understand what comes with it. Get help if you need it. And keep moving forward.

I find it annoying when one can’t be overall pleased with a team without being accused of having low expectations, not understanding the game, being a fan of the “wrong” players, being a fanboy of the coach, etc.

You have shared your expectations and many think they are very low. For the record, I find most of your posts annoying, but think you already know that.

Thanks. I dont know why I read your posts as they rarely have anything to do with soccer.

Also, I think you have ridiculously low expectations for the USMNT. You have a very rec league/MLS vibe. Just happy to be here.
