Messi watching this while his hands tremble... blood is in the water, and the scent of upsets are in the air...

For pure quality in a vacuum, the Champions League. For drama and feels and something that involves the better part of the globe and humanity, it's the World Cup.

USL playoffs number one in my heart but the World Cup is a close second. :D

The Tunisia fans are great. Beating France is its own reward.

Tunisia should be proud of their effort, fans feel the same it looks like. Good win for them.

Denmark finishing bottom of the group is, honestly, very funny. At least the perpetual darkhorses Belgium win the matches they're supposed to win...

Imagine if Australia drew and that VAR at the end of France Tunisia was consequential lol

Well *my* hipster teams were Morocco and Serbia. Denmark and Belgium got too mainstream.

Denmark finishing bottom of group is surprising. While I figured they'd advance out of the group, it's hard to argue that many of the guys they rely on just weren't in good form coming into the World Cup

Complicated feelings today for my love of my birth country (Poland) and my hatred of El Tri. There's plenty of scenarios where we would advance and Mexico doesn't (which I'm hoping for), but if we lose we could end up needing Mexico, and if we win, it could end up saving Mexico

Just realized if Argentina finishes 2nd, we'll be favored to get to the semis. IT would be AUS-Poland or KSA.

We'd be favored to make the semis over Australia, so Australia wins and becomes this cup's Korea minus the controversial refereeing.

I like Poland and I don’t wish ill on Mexico when we’re not playing them. But of course you have to root for the Messi run to continue as a neutral as well. Interesting group to watch on the final day.

It could also be a repeat of the Mexico 2014 World Cup, where they were less than 10 minutes away from beating The Dutch in The Round of 16 and licking their lips at their Costa Rica/Greece Quarterfinal opponent

They made the eventual World Champions, Italy, suffer that time.

A team that knocks out C-BOL5 cannot be weak.

Is there someone on the Fox set in Doha that has a tranq gun in case Alexi goes feral and just starts trying to rip Edu's eyes out? I know his sports trope is "the unhinged guy", but he's teetering on "too far" with some of his hot takes

The tension and the stakes are higher but the level of football is far worse than EPL or LaLiga imho
