He's definitely a better recruiter, and I give him tons of credit for the unusual camaraderie among these guys. He's also prepped excellent game plans all three games. And I have no freaking idea how anyone could watch these three games and think Gregg could coach his way out of a paper bag. Fortunately - and I'm not being snarky here - having the team with the most talented players (which is all to Gregg's credit, we don't have Musah and Dest without him, and we don't win without Musah and Dest) and a good team culture (again, all to Greggs credit) wins 9 times out of 10 in sports.
Good to see, yet at the same time I hope those folks manage to stay relatively safe and that no consequences await the Iranian players for this defeat.. I still remember reading Saddams Husseins son being in charge of their athletics and how they would be killed or tortured following a bad performance… players would willingly go and represent their country despite Uday having their feet whipped for a defeat..
Well, the Zimmerman / Moore subs were in minute 82, and I asked Alexa for 23 minutes on the timer. So I had a lot of time in the budget.
As a general thought - in the is World Cup we played FOOTBALL. This wasn’t about our fitness and athleticism and our grit. Nah ******** that. We played 3 teams, and then we outplayed 3 teams, and in each match we dominated the midfield had had the better attacking moments. Credit is going to a lot of different places between tactics, man management, the sheer talent, CB enostey lockeroom stuff etc - but this is the best US performance in our history since the 2002 World Cup
At least one reporter is taking this post with a grain of salt in the era of "deepfakes": are y'all sure that Pulisic post is real?— Seth Vertelney (@svertelney) November 29, 2022 It's a bit complex to have been photoshopped, but its certainly within the realm of possibility.
Agree 100% on Aaronson. I thought he was good. I like him inside more than outside, though. Also thought he had some nice recoveries.
it would truly be an incredible post-credits scene for that picture to be fake lol. what an incredible thing
It might be harsh, I love BA so maybe am a little more critical because of how good he can be. I also wasn’t watching in the most analytical frame of mind. The second half may have colored my perception of his performance.
I had the same reaction... but, ya know, "for the lulz / internet points" and all that jazz But mask makes me think that the pic is real... as for the caption, who knows?
Nobody can do what he can do, but we can play without him. We won 2 qualifiers w/o him last cycle, and outplayed Mexico at home w/him as a sub (he later won it for us) the following qualifying window. He's missed games. I really want to just post a gif of Pulisic giving up the body for the goal, and again, doing the same two years ago against Arsenal in the forum for those ungrateful, deluded c---'s that litter shed's end. Outplayed his teammates that get 3x the minutes at the WC, sacrificed his world cup so the team could advance, just like he tried to score after tearing his --- damned hamstring (or whatever) against Arsneal in that FA Cup final two years ago. I'm so frustrated he got hurt. W/that performance against England and the winner today, he really could've gotten moved next month, now we've got to see if he can even play again any time soon. So happy for him after all the pain and misery w/---- Chelsea, and with Couva and '17, that when it came down to it, when everything was on the line, he gave us the moment of glory to send us through like Donovan did more than a decade ago. Thank you to Pulisic, special goal, special moment, well earned, and definitely made up for yet more of that foolish dribbling instead of passing on that breakaway early on that we all cursed at lol.
that does not look to me like he is getting prepped for surgery. Outstanding. Just having him on the pitch will provide great motivation for his teammates.
He wasn’t in a great position to exploit his skill set, and the first 15 I think he was dangerous and good, but a bit lacking in the final 3rd…which isn’t all that far from what his median is
So what level of success counts no matter how you get there?? So if Gregg gets the team to continue to grind out 1-0 wins to the final that isn’t good enough because we “underperformed” our talent level? What were your expectations of how far this team could go in the World Cup with your dream coach?
That was because he wasn't prepared for the punch the moron leveled at him way back in the day. Pulisic knew he was giving up the body in the moment. Hopefully he recovers soon. That goal goes up alongside Dempsey and Jermaine's in '14, Donovan and Bradley's in '10, and O'Brien, McBride and Mathis' from '02, and it probably heads even above those straight to Donovan vs Algeria status given time.
Was Weah really offside on that goal they called back? I didn’t see a replay but it looked pretty close.
