We dominated the first half and Iran couldn't even get a shot. We focused way too much on defense during the second half, and that freed up Iran to fucus more on attacking. Berhalter needs to realize that sometimes the best defense is a good attack.

It was terrifying but I think Berhalter got end game right considering the environment and fitness of his team. Wes not being 90 minutes fit is a big issue to work around
Oh my goodness, that's hilarious. I know he's a little eccentric, but that REALLY just painted him in a different light for me. (Side note - this was a VERY well-officiated match. It helps to have a Champions League final crew working a win or else game.)

Losing Pulisic is part of this no? Aaronson is fine but he's not the threat of Pulisic. Plus once the subs starting coming the drop-off in quality is great: Weah and Dest plus Pulisic means you lose the champions league caliber players
Berhalter didn't coach a perfect game, the players didn't play a perfect game (someone duct tape the ball to Antonee's foot), but in the end, we are through. It beats being out.
Our midfield can only play at the tempo they set for so long. We don't have subs to maintain the style. We adjusted and used the game state. It wasn't art, but it limited their chances. And the need to go off on the coach now seems...mistimed. And if he gets grief for the second half, then the dominance in the first deserves attention too.
It’s also on the coach that we freaking won!!! and by the way I’m pissed we haven’t seen more of Reyna. But I’m not there and the coach got us to the World Cup and to the knockout stage! So good on him.
