When my family moved to New Zealand, the government insisted not only about white, but Anglo-Saxon white. Nobody of Southern European extraction, unless they were coming over to work on the dam project. But that was a LONG time ago. Presumably policies have changed, at least to some extent.
Flooding the area with bulllsh!t is their talent: 1,000 of the 1,050 pages are copies of letters Rs have sent to the Biden administration — including 94 copies of the same five page letter to all US attorneys. https://t.co/I0Erhs2u9n— Kyle Cheney (@kyledcheney) November 4, 2022
I had to provide photos along with my application. But even then, late 60s, there was a fair amount of Southern Europeans. I played footy with a mixed team of Greeks and Dallies (Yugoslavia back then from the Dalmatian Coast) Alway fun because most of these guys had family vineyards we would head to after a game.
Hmmm, well my parents told a different story about the vetting process. (Although yes, we did also have to provide a family photo.) And we didn't meet Southern Europeans where we lived. But i will take your word on that.
I felt during the interview that they were careful how they worded questions but I was more excited and focused on getting to NZ to a new start and out of 60s England with communist led unions. I lived the Mt Eden area of Auckland and met with the Dallies on the job I had at the Colonial Ammunition Company. Quite extended families in the wine growing area. As an aside the wine biz in NZ was pretty young back then. You had a choice of 4 wines. Dry or sweet red. Dry or sweet white. That was it, they were just getting into a (rough) brandy. The industry has changed exponentially since then with some fine exported wines.
Concidentally, my father worked for a bit in a job that was tangential to the NZ wine industry. One day he met with a producer. The guy gave him the brief vineyard tour, with the explanation of how the wine was made, up until the point that it was bottled, shortly after the harvest. My father asked, "How long then until it is ready?" The winemaker's response. "It is ready now!" Such were the days.

GQP: We want to ban books, abortion, LGTBQ and minorities. We also want to gut social security and medicare and give the super rich more tax cuts. And if we lose we may start a civil war. Gee, I wonder why they think that… Alex Jones & Roger Stone are concerned that a lot of Republicans didn’t bother voting because they now think all elections are rigged. pic.twitter.com/VVNlZJ5fvf— Ron Filipkowski (@RonFilipkowski) November 10, 2022

And there you have it - they're saying the quiet parts out loud. Force people to believe what they believe, or at least to play by their rules. Abortion, gays, the "Jewish media" ... if it had blacks in there it would be the greatest hits version of the Republican soundtrack. edit: reading about him on wikipedia - he seems like a real prize, an incel even.
To Trump:You had your chance, with a Republican House and Senate. You handed domestic policy to your son-in-law and Gary Cohn. This is the dude who lost 60-40 in my district. I saw many of his "Not black. Not white. American" signs in Whitelandian yards. "Hey, he's just like us! I don't see color" Just can't determine which Wingnut think tank workshopped his policy positions. https://www.dariusmayfieldforamerica.com/issuesweface
How close is this guy to influencing people with actual power? Is he Richard Spencer, who doesn’t affect policy, or Steve Bannon, who does? The answer to that question will let me know how much I should worry about him.
