He is "supposedly/should" resume training on Thursday and possibly be available for the match against Leverkusen. I don't think they need to risk Scholl. I am sure they are going to go slow with him, due to his past w/ injuries. And it looks as he will also resume light training on Thursday as well.

    EDIT
Sagnol returned today to training, but it does not say if he is match ready Lizarazu is the one who should be back tomorrow for training and be in the squad for the match.
Why the edit??? In the German edition they refer to Sagnols fellow countryman (Sagnols Landsmann) In the English they just say Lizarazu. I need more German practice.

Hargreaves isn't a good right-back. The worst game he made in this position.

In form Leverkusen confident of breaking 16-year jinx at Bayern

    Roy Kammerer / Associated Press
    Posted: 3 hours ago

With four victories in its last five league games - allowing only two goals since November, Bayer Leverkusen feels confident it can finally end a 16-year jinx at Bayern Munich's Olympiastadion.*

Coming off a a 3-0 victory over Hannover and a 4-0 win against Bochum the past two weeks, Leverkusen could vault itself and others into the Bundesliga title race with a victory over Bayern on Saturday.

Midfielder Paul Freier has scored a goal in each of the last two games and Dimitar Berbatov has a goal in two of the last three games. With a pair of 1-1 draws both at Roma and Madrid in the European Champions league in November, Leverkusen coach Klaus Augenthaler believes now is the time to get its first victory in Munich since 1989.

"We stood the test in Rome and Madrid, why shouldn't we do the same thing in Munich?" he said.

Last year's 3-3 draw in Munich came after 13 straight losses.

Bayern leads the Bundesliga with 38 points, a point ahead of Schalke, three more than Stuttgart and six ahead of Leverkusen.

Both Bayern and Leverkusen will have most of their key players healthy, although both will be without a top defender - Munich's Willie Sagnol and Leverkusen's Roque Junior.

Leverkusen has climbed from 10th to fourth in the past four weeks with 32 points, and could close within three of Bayern with a win Saturday.

Werder Bremen is another point behind, and travels to VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday.

Wolfsburg, which led the Bundesliga for eight rounds earlier this season, has lost five of its last six and dropped to eighth.

Elsewhere, Schalke appears to have an easy match against bottom Hansa Rostock.

But Rostock is hoping for a lift from new acquisition Jari Litmanen, the Finn who won the Champions League in 1995 with Ajax and has played for Barcelona and Liverpool. Schalke also has two key players suspended - Gerald Asamoah and Levan Kobiachvili.

Stuttgart could face trouble against Kaiserslautern, which upset Schalke 2-0 last week and has steadily climbed to 10th after being stuck in the demotion zone earlier in the season.

Stuttgart coach Matthias Sammer must deal with off-the-field distractions.

The coach gave Timo Hildebrandt an ultimatum, saying he wants a decision Saturday if the goalkeeper will remain with the club. He also advised forward Kevin Kuranyi to ignore a reported offer from Schalke, which has lured several top Bundesliga players with lucrative contracts.

"We should concentrate on the fact that VfB Stuttgart is our employer," Sammer warned Kuranyi.

In other matches over the weekend, Hannover faces Dortmund, Bochum hosts Bielefeld, Berlin will try to keep alive a nine-match unbeaten streak against Mainz, Nuremberg takes on Hamburg and Moenchengladbach plays Freiburg.

    * - we all knew about leverkusens powerful offense, but thats a pretty good defensive record as well!!!

“Felix Magath apparently said that we are playing better football than Bayern at the moment. I hope he has to repeat that after the game.”

 , sound a bit arrogant to me. It's time to teach them a lession

Bayer match us very well on all areas, they have 2 very dangerous strikers Berbetov and Voronin, both wings are a bit even better than us at the moment with on form Krzynowek and Freier. hope Ze roberto will be back to his best this time, otherwise we're in a big trouble.

This is going to be a fantastic match. Both sides are stacked, you must admit that Bayer 04 is playing a little better footie right now. Matches like this are a real test to seperate good players from the great ones.

I still see this ending in a 2-2 draw.
Bayer will score the 1st goal, then Bayern will draw level beginning of the 2nd half, then Bayern will score again, finally Bayer 04 will draw level near the end of the match.

I pray that Fox Sports World televises this match!

I will be working Saturday--so I will not be in for pbp. I am sure there will be a game thread in the Yanks Abroad Forum, due to Mr. Donovan ----hell-there will probably be one in the Leverkusen forum as well. As much as I want to Landon play--I am still rooting for FCB. ;) Great warm up for CL.

Oh this was a brilliant managing strategy, PISS OFF the league leading opponent when you are playing in THEIR stadium! I'm sure this quote will be in the lockerroom to motivate FC Bayern Munchen.

Quite interesting lineup for Munich.... at least this how I read it...

    .................Kahn
    Frings...Lucio...Kovac...Brazzo
    .............Hargreaves
    Schweinsteiger....Ze Roberto
    ...............Ballack
    ........Guerrero....Makaay

It is possible that Ballack is playing in front of the defense and Ze Roberto in the middle behind the forwards. Or that Fings and Hargreaves are switched (with Ballack then at d-mid and Frings behind forwards). Third option would be Schweini in behind forwards and Hargreaves wide right.

Kahn was the 1st German player/1st footballer that I ever knew or was in awe of......with his outstanding GK for German National Side.

But concerning Bayern Munich, I have grown to like Ballack and Hargreaves (the Englishman), and everyone likes Makaay (fantastic striker)!

I can do it at Champions Leauge matches, but not at Bundesliga matches, because this season I don't have Pay-TV and always wait until one hour after the game when they're showing ~10min pieces of every Bundesliga game at ARD. I just want to keep up the excitement a little until I have pay-tv again. :D
