Zidane Iqbal, Anthony Elanga, Alejandro Garnacho & Facundo Pellistri on the bench. Hopefully we can put the game to bed in the first half and see the young lads get on 💪 pic.twitter.com/kcOLmpHcdy— academyarena Utd (@academyarenaUTD) October 6, 2022
Very us - waste some chances then caught on the counter and down 1-0. Poor ball Sancho to Malacia, poor from Malacia too to give the ball away. Three united players chase down two oppo, Eriksen inexplicably goes to the ball carrier leaving the goal scorer free.
No pride or shame. Imaging getting battered last time out then coming out and playing around with a weak ass team. Pathetic.
For some context, they have won 1 of 26 previous euro games. They finished 7th in the Cypriot league (not even the best team in Nicosia). As things stand, we would be bottom of the group … Edit: Rash makes it 1-1
is the defence going to get another free pass for horror defending again today? they need to cut out this Jekyll & Hyde stuff asap
-Malacia need to sit.. Shaw did very well after coming on. -Rashford and Martial looked great. Good to see that. Need those 2 to stay healthy. -Ronaldo is probably finished... hope i am wrong. -Really want to mention had bad Lindelof is... he made me long for Maguire.
Rahsford MOTM today. He came on and changed the match for us. Confidence seems to be close to fully back and that's a good thing.
Our defense was poor again today. When we got attacked they looked far too vulnerable. Had we played a better side I think we would've gotten battered.
Only saw the highlights but we seemed a mess in defense. It's crazy how much better Rashford and Martial look when they are out there together. Also, judging from the highlights Ronaldo took 395 shots and none of them were on goal. He looks a shadow of himself at this point. His pace is gone and his close control even looks suspect lately. He just doesnt offer anything unless we're getting wide and crossing which we dont really do under ETH. Last season he at least still had the ability to separate enough to get a quick shot off. This season he looks like hes struggling to even do that.
They scored with their first attack which came as a result of a bad touch/decision by Malacia that opened us up. Prior to that, they got the ball into our box once. We were utterly dominant. We might have been up 3 nil at that point. Bruno hit the bar with a clever effort, Ronaldo had a good shot saved and Antony passed when he should have shot, he also had a shot palmed out of the top corner. It wasn't a sterling performance by any stretch of the imagination but just as 6-3 flattered us against City, 3-2 is very kind to them. I think, honestly, this was a good match for us. For starters, we created chances against a low block. Furthermore, we continued to do so despite going a goal down AND we did so for a long time with Ronaldo as the striker. The result which saw us concede twice is not ideal, but we are seeing good things as well. We have to remember this is the start of a project and the first time we are building anyting complicated in attack since LVG. There will be growing pains.
Someone said all the United players have food on the spoon making helicopter noises and Ronaldo keeps missing his mouth. LMAO
