It’s the response Messi generates - people putting aside their national colors in hoping Messi wins the World Cup:

    Jürgen Klinsmann to @LANACION:

“I think everyone in football has a desire that Messi, with his incredible talent, everything he has done in his career, and how tremendously well he represents football, wins the World Cup as Diego Maradona did…

Typical ADM, after few bad games, he'd proof all his doubters wrong.

Klinsmann has been saying it for a while. In fact he actually said Argentina deserves the WC more than anyone.

Speaking to Premier (via SPORT), Klinsmann said: “Argentina should have won a couple more cups since 1990. Maybe that will happen this year. Why not? I would like it to happen, especially for Leo. May he win this time as a Christmas present.”

He also said he's glad Pekerman didnt sub in Messi when his team played Argentina in 2006 QF.

Hopefully Messi treats his cups like a drunkard at a bar

“ok ok, this is gonna be my last one and I’m done for the night”

    “ok ok, one more..”

Honestly, I do see him playing at the same level as he is right now until 2024. I feel the pibes like Garnacho, Romero and Soule will still be too young for the Copa 2024 and the core of the team will be at their prime age. Would be very happy to have Messi in the team for the Copa 2024, at the very very least as an impact sub.

Maybe something like a 3-4-1-2 for Copa 2024

    Dibu---N. Perez, Romero, Lisandro---Molina, Enzo, Paredez/De Paul, Acuna/Gonzales---Messi---Alvarez, Lautaro

Just a note. When Diego called it a day in 94(I know he went back home and played for a bit), Messi meteoric rise occurred within a decade. Hopefully, there is 6-7 year old right now in Argentina that is kicking the ball around and he will be the next world superstar in 10-15 years.

Most likely wont retire permanently. I can see him making sporadic appearence in some qualifier games & play in major tournaments but skip friendlies.

Messi is someone who'd rather play football than doing anything else.

Being a mid 30 guy today is not the same as few decades ago. We've seen in other sport aswell such as tennis, mma & boxing where atheletes at Messi's age dominating the younger guys.

Messi will not play in PSG’s next league game due to injury (discomfort in his calf), but that test results are reassuring.

This year, please take a month off if you feel any type of discomfort. Be ready for November. That's all I want.

My dream is that the WC goes as we all hope it goes and then there are a bunch of celebration friendlies during the next international breaks vs minnows where Messi can statpad to his heart’s desire.

To be honest, Messi dont seems to care about statspedding. Like Diego, he seems enjoying himself as true playmaker these days.

If he's going to keep playing for NT, I think it would be only competitive game cause he'd probably focusing on winning another CL and international friendlies wont be a priority.

I agree he doesn’t care about statpadding but I imagine he would participate in the initial friendlies if…well…anulo mufa.

If you watch this 7 min video, there is still not a single player who can do what Messi does.

In Sampaoli's first match as Sevilla Manager, Montiel and Papu is starting. Acuna is fit enough to be on the bench.

Hopefully Montiel can get his form back.

Angelito Correa scored a brace today. How he is behind Joaquin Correa I will never know.

D Paul on the bench lmao A correa might miss the WC because of Simeone.

Hopefully that bald fraud contributes a bit to getting our players fit especially acuna he's crucial

Sampa has had good spells pretty much every place he has gone outside of the time with us. He came in with a few games left and was given the task to fix all of our problems.

I pretty much blame Tata for that. After the 2016 CA. Sampa wanted the job, he waited and waited and Tata did not make a decision and Sevilla offered him a contract and that he said yes. A week later, Tata stepped down.

Now, if Sampa has the team since 2016, maybe things could have been a bit different. But his Sevilla team was doing great when the AFA came calling and he left it to take in this task.

The problem was you need certain type of players to play his style and we had none of that. I do not think any coach in the world could have helped us at that point. Too little time to prepare for a World Cup. We were stuck with a fool like Tata and then we had a freakin clown like Bauza(See what I did there, Bauza the Clown?). Talk about crushing the spirit of this team.

And I do hope Sampa can contribute to our team. We need managers that are willing to play their countrymen, you know, the opposite of Cholo.

In a way, Sampa did positively contributed to the team by having Scaloni as part of his coaching staff in both Sevilla and the NT and now Scaloni is the best Arg. NT coach since Sabella. Sampa is a man of great vision :p

Wait you guys actually defending bald fraud for sabotaging the national team?

No I just can't do this type of revisionism and forgive that old tattooed midget. How in the world are you blaming Tata who actually had us play amazing football and didn't even get paid!!!! Not that I like Tata or anything but he would have been infinetly better.

Fraudali tried more players than maradona. He forced a system that would never work for us instead of working with what we have. He failed to integrate players like paredes and lo celso, didn't start fit Aguero, relied on local duds, etc etc. He should have been fired after the Croatia game mid world cup when the players started a mutiny and decided their own formation vs Nigeria. He then proceeds to absolutely butcher the game vs france that was very winnable.

I guarantee anyone posting on this forum would have done better than him. He is another bielsa disciple like pochetino, he's good with small teams who are ready to have their players burned out to overachive for a season.
