Gonzalo Gerardo Higuaín did indeed announce on 10/03/2022 that this is his last season playing professional football. Scored 31 goals for the Albiceleste and currently 227 goals at club level. Not a bad career, but obviously, we have painful memories of his time with the NT.

I hope he enjoys the rest of his life, he seems like a good person. And we have won a Copa America recently, so we should all be more magnanimous towards players like Higuain.

Higuain scores that goal vs Germany and he could have retired a hero. He went to score that offside goal that was even more painful by how long the review took while he was celebrating out of his mind. I think he was mentally destroyed after that.

Well, it is obvious that Haaland is going to be the Big Kahuna for City. Perhaps this season will be a time where Julian will probably have to sit on the bench for league matches. But if this trend goes into the proceeding season then it is a problem for his development.

I know im in the minority, but i ve always liked Higuain. Despite his ******** ups, he was a great forward for Argentina.

If Julian knew if Haaland was going to City, I feel that he would have not gone to City. I could see the same thing happening for next season as well tbh and think that he should go out for a loan.

He also assisted Messi's winner against Bosnia with clever backheel. So he did have a pretty good tournament compare to Aguero and Palacio. I know Kun wasnt fit but Palacio? lol

Watching the extended highlight again, we're clearly the much better side when it comes to threatening the goal. Messi was dangerous throughout the normal time. At 6:37 you could see Messi brilliant play and setting up the ball for Palacio who run slower than any footballer I could remember.

I mean, City always has the funds for top level players. Did he not expect that City were going to buy some established European forward? I get it’s still early in his tenure but the last thing we want is that he becomes a permanent sub.

Di Maria would burry Germany in the final. Hope if Argentina make it to final this time, he will be fit.

Lmao Palacios 'run. At least J correa is athletic. Messi always pulls that pass even now with psg. The ball actually gains momentum it's almost perfect placement if that rat-tail had any iq. And I had seen Palacios at inter that year, he was more lucky than anything always scoring scrappy rebound goals.

I would have kept Higuain and lavezzi to die on the pitch oh man too much trauma I don't think I even watched the highlights of that game but I remember Germany dominated and that was after they pretty much had extra rest vs Brazil.

Yea, I mean, he was outpaced by a guy few meters behind him and he didnt even came in until late in the game, wtf....

Germany had 59% of the ball but you look at the highlights they only threatened like 2-3 times and those chances werent even dangerous as Romero easily dealt with it. By halftime, Germany had two players on yellow and we have zero. Nothing against Messi, we wont even reach round 16 or QF if wasnt him but when he blew his chance early in second half, I felt right away that this game might swing on Germany's favor even if its takes a shootout. I honestly think its better to lose it on late goal than a shootout.

Speaking of Higuain's miss, the one against Chile in 2015 did looks like a bad pass from Lavezzi, but then you could see Batigol literally scored a goal from same situation also in Copa America.

I am slightly concerned about RDP. He did not look good in the Jamaica game. He gave the ball away a lot. Plus that blonde hair....guy might be going crazy. He needs to stay humble and hard working like he always has been.

Regarding Pipita, the 2016 Centenario was the most egregious as he was basically already around Bravo and could’ve practically walked the ball in. That would’ve been a cool tournament to win as we had destroyed everyone to that point and the Americas had peaked (8 teams in the knockout rounds of the previous WC, including Costa Rica as a surprise QF). Still the Maracanã made up for the Copa heartbreak… Hopefully Higuain retiring is an anti-mufa and will bring the team good fortune.

Romero was great today. Simeone & Balerdi scored. Didn’t catch any of Inter-Barça. Any thoughts on how Lautaro & Tucu looked?

Except for the offside goal, Tucu didn't have any impact. Tbf fair to him, Inzaghi should have started Tucu as a LF rather than a RF.

Lautaro didn't look comfortable with that injury that he was carrying, but he kept fighting. Hopefully he doesn't play much this weekend.

Correa was useless as always, only thing he did all game was being offside.

Lautaro worked hard all game but his problem at Inter sometimes is that he just wastes too much energy in wrestling against opponent CBs and verbal fighting with others in general (got a dumb yellow like usual for fighting).
For Argentina he doesn't do any of this dumb shit, he shuts up and focuses on scoring.

The only thing I dislike about scaloneta is that we have too many hotheads in the starting team, basically everyone is quick tempered except Messi, Di Maria and Lo Celso.

Xabi Alonso is now the manager of Bayer Leverkusen. If Palacios decide to stay, hopefully Palacios can learn a lot from Xabi.

    J. Correa has a knee tendon injury and with the recovery time unknown. Although I do not want Tucu in the WC squad, I hope he makes a full speedy recovery. Reading posts from the Inter Milan forum, looks like they really do not like Tucu.

Gaston Edul did some Q&A on his twitter and some important tweets.

    - Scaloni is waiting for Foyth and Palacios to recover fully and their inclusion in the WC squad will depend on that rather than the consideration of Enzo

    - Dybala is more in than out of the WC squad

    - Montiel will go to the WC
