I took a beer from Dr. Pete on Saturday. My wife, too. I'll be sure we both carry out Seppuku to avoid further shame.
If the city is unhappy about delinquent rent, they should just foreclose on the place, toss the Crew out and let the place return to the Earth from whence it came. I'm certain that would please the dimwits over at The Disgrace. Bill Bush would go on a 10 day ether and grain alcohol bender with a 12 year old Thai hooker to celebrate
Just to clarify: Do you mean he bought you a beer or was he standing there drinking a beer and you grabbed it and ran away?
They had the option to pay the entire lease up front. 30 years at $10 a year. For $300 this could have been a non-issue. So dumb. $300 for HCS too so for the amount spent on a nice dinner for the ownership group they would not have been in this situation And yes, Bill Bush is still a hack.
Yeah, it's amazing they didn't pay the 30 years up front. They were late for the training facility too. And aparently haven't done the site inventory which would establish what was owned by the team and what was owned by the Confluence Authority. City officials dodged comments on it but one of Ginther's flacks pointed out the city expected millions in income tax revenues from the Astor park development. Also Bush cost the city a lot more than $40 with his various document requests.
Lawyers make a career out of a finding loopholes and assessing risk tolerance. Maybe the contract has no stated penalty for being late. Why pay it if there is no other consequence! Because it looks bad!!! That’s why you don’t own the team.
There sort of was for a time...in NOASA, though I think they left the 'FC' off. Note, this is about the 9th or 10th level of soccer in the US (i.e. literally beer league), last I took the time to try to calculate it.
The issue with Bush (well, one issue anyway) is that he keep trying to lump in the total price of the stadium itto his arguments to get folks to think that the team paid nothing. He keeps harping on the ~$300 mil and the 30% buy back. As I recall, isn't the deal that the team essentially *gave* the stadium to the Authority--in return for tax breaks and tax deals. The 30% is mostly for the part they didn't pay for. Also, the bond issues mentioned are usually tax neutral. Just a way to spread out the costs.
Is Bill Bush even from Columbus, or is he an outsider trying to stir the pot? If so, go back to your city now, ‘cause this ain’t your town.
He lost me two or three years ago when he was extolling Precourt's virtues by the argument that the city didn't even need to pay for a traffic study of the area around the stadium site. He just neglected to mention that no traffic study was done.
He's been at the Dispatch for a long time so he's local. No idea where he grew up. Before the Crew-bashing beat, he was the Dispatch's education reporter, covering Columbus City Schools. I don't recall him breaking any stories, the various scandals were discovered by other people.
It seems his current official beat is city finances/expenditures. Regarding this hack job of words, this dildo is all bent out of shape over $20. The city claims they're far more focused on the income off the development (jobs and such) than $10/yr. And whoever the hell Joe Motil thinks *he* is...what has he done again? If someone from Massive Report asked certain questions to the CFO or team staff, they'd run the risk of getting credentials pulled. If someone from any media outlet asked specific questions to OSU, they'd also most likely lose credentials. Hell, the whole damn media outlet might. I wonder if Tim Bezbatchenko could run a gag order on this clown.
I know this is the wrong thread for it, but I'm dropping it here because it'll get more eyeballs: The next Nordecke Board meeting is Thursday, 10/6. This meeting will be open to 2022 Nordecke Members from 8-9pm. Meeting is at the Nordecke Tifo Space: 3201 Alberta Street, Columbus 43204. #Crew96 | #VamosColumbus— The Nordecke ⭐⭐⭐ (@Nordecke) October 4, 2022

https://www.columbuscrew.com/news/c...s-to-new-office-space-in-astor-park-at-munici The FO business operations are moving to the power plant building. I assume the old FO will be taken over by more coaching personnel, but the press release doesn't say.
I know where there's some prime street level space over on High Street. Corner building, big windows. They ought to check it out.
It was semi-taken over by some eSports company. Their logo is up on some of the walls, but the "World Class Soccer" and "World Class City" window clings are still displayed. IIRC, there's some sort of office set up in the back, but it's not soccer-related.
That's a little sad. The team couldn't do anything productive with the space they paid a lot to rent and furnish. So they sublet it to someone else.
Assuming the stadium visitor center had opened and plans never changed, did they even have a plan for the space when the stadium opened? It really couldn't have been that hard to stick a few sales/marketing guys in there with some merch.
