It's actually working out quite nicely for him. He's also getting a lot of praise from conservative media, which is all he's paying attention to.
This is way, way beyond the pale. There has to be repercussions! No way can this be left to slide. But!!! they let school shootings go by.
They lured people onto the plane with the promise of jobs - proving once again that most immigrants are coming here to work, not to suckle at the teat of the welfare state as the contards always claim.
And there are already lawyers preparing to file massive lawsuits against the people who perpetrated this fraud -- with the likely additional aspect of them being charged for obstructing federal proceedings since part of the plan was to move them somewhere far enough away they wouldn't be able to make their court dates for their asylum hearings. So much criming. It's going to be awesome when one of these families is awarded millions in damages.
Yeah, but what is his end game? If it is to become President, this will be a failure. If it is earn money, he is successful. Considering this student, I'm starting to lean towards what @Kazuma said about him having a legislature making him look good. Up to now, I thought he was fairly savvy, but now I'm questioning that assessment.
Well, this culture of crime has certainly permeated the Republican party. Too bad there wasn't a guy they could have made an example of earlier, to show that crime has consequences. Now they all feel like they can just break the law whenever they want and nobody will do anything to stop them - and so far, they're right.
Great thread. Cruelty is the point: Do asylees create a burden on border communities?Sure. But it is a burden we have already learned how to manage and the only thing we really need is more resources. It would be far more effective to just buy migrants a sandwich and a bus ticket than a private plane to MV.— Dem Saints (@LDS_Dems) September 16, 2022
What other part? The folks who are too young to vote Trump, have a felony, or just weren't able to get to the polls? That adds probably another 30 million to both sides. You're looking at more than one out of every four Americans any way you choose to spin it. All I'm saying is, these people are numerous enough not to be considered a side dish. Conservatism is America's offering to the world.
What other part, 'nutter? You logged in and rolleyed my damn post, so I'm thinking you have something relevant to offer in rebuttal. Do you, or was this just an emotional display?
The person in this article needs to read Nixonland to understand how savvy Nixon was. And DeSantis and Nixon’s upbringings are so vastly different. One was born poor, went to a small college, went to Duke for law. DeSantis? Harvard, Yale. And Catholic school. “He’s just Richard Nixon, and I mean that as a compliment. He’s smart. He’s detail-oriented. He’s motivated by resentment toward the people in charge, and he understands the system that he wants to run.” This is a v good piece by @mattfleg: https://t.co/43wXzSZuxm— Alec MacGillis (@AlecMacGillis) September 18, 2022
The question always goes back to - what do our vaunted independents have a tolerance for? They seem to be anti Dodd and I'd say busing and flying immigrants around for asinine political points is not big on their important issues facing America. I think DeSatan is going way too Trumpy. He already has Trumpists locked up anyway.
As you do, when there is a conversation about something that matters, you will jump in like you do and say either "74 million" or "emails, ovaries, drones." It's like you can't handle us having a discussion that has nuance. It's also like you think we have the memory of a goldfish.
'Nutter... Emails, ovaries and drones is how we got here. They're some of the reasons people gave as excuses for not voting Hillary. My saying it is a jab at everyone who found her uninspiring or whatever, as well. Those are some of the people responsible for the fix we're in now. Of course, we know about conservatism, but those people were gonna support Trump anyway. So yeah, it's a jab at anyone who didn't vote HRC and is even slightly bothered by recent events. 74 million. That's the rounded-up tally for Trump in 2020. It's a lighthearted jab at the folks who think these people can be neutralized at the ballot box. It's my way of saying, "Over 23% of the 2020 census voted Trump. That's without his supporters who haplen to be unfranchised felons. That's without his supporters who aren't yet old enough to vote. IMO, you can add another 25-30 million folks to the vote totals if you want a realistic idea of the number of folks who ain't troubled by him". This is just my way of reminding you that the genie is out of the bottle. She ain't going back. I don't think your comment about nuance is justified. My post doesn't simplify your nuance- it brings some reality to your optimism, maybe, but it doesn't address nuance at all. Perhaps you want nuance to prevail over conservatism. That's not gonna happen. We blew it not electing Hillary, and nothing we do going forward is going to make a dent in our troubles. Nothing. The only chance we had was to not let Trump into the WH to begin with. This shit is over. Be as upbeat as you want. But 74 million voters aren't going away. They have been empowered now, and they now know they're not alone.
@soccernutter If reading "74 million" bothers you, just think of how it bothers me. Your life really isn't in any sort of danger.
