A big one on national TV. A home game versus the team one point behind us in the standings. A real playoff spot 6-pointer. After this we will only have 3 home games left and 6 on the road, so not only important to get the 3 points here to start building some momentum and consistency (which has eluded us all season) but we have some tough games ahead of us and need to build a little point cushion. Which Galaxy team shows up this Friday? The team that steamrolled Vancouver or the team that rolled over and played dead at Kansas City? We found out Friday night under the lights. Let's Go Galaxy!
Anyone seen anything official about Puig's visa being finalized? Prices for tickets on stubhub and Tickpic are higher then usual even with it being a Friday night game. It's a big game and people know it.
Yuge! game, this is where we fight for a spot or get left in the dust. Nashville and Portland are tied with us at 33 points. Seattle and Portland are close enough that one win and they vault over Galaxy and even Vancouver can tie us with a W. Razor's edge time. I dont know this the greatest match to start this Puig guy, no matter the hype. Use the same crew and adjust accordingly. Bring in Puig in the second H. I hope they don't lose focus of what's more important here in all the hoopla. The points.
Vanney starts the same XI even when they suck, so I imagine the only change for Friday would be Williams back in for DePuy. Then hopefully we get to see 20-30 min of Puig for Vazquez in the second half.
Puig had his visa appointment yesterday. I imagine Galaxy are expediting the process. I have to imagine Puig will feature in this one.
I disagree. Vanney's #1 guiding principle is to change the lineup if it works. So I expect Costa to start and Grandsir to come off the bench. Jovelic will come in at minute 83, score two goals and we lose 3-2. {Sorry, there is no hope for me guys. This team (and other events*) have turned this former Pollyannaish optimist into Debbie Downer's much more cynical twin. Only an MLS Cup win will turn me around -- sports-wise at least.} * Politics. For a more general restitution of my former optimistic self I just need to see the leaders of the attacks on our democracy going to jail in front of a red and blue cheering nation. Now that would go a long way toward restoring my belief in humanity!
I concur. Start the same lineup except use Williams if he is available in the back and sub in Riqui around minute 65. Brugman and Delgado need to go the 90 unless they are totally dragging about and being overrun. I want Chicharito to go the 90 as well. 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 -----------------Chicharito Grandsir------Vazquez-----Cabral ----------Brugman---Delgado Edward--Williams--Sega---Araujo --------------------Bond Subs DeJan for Grandsir Costa for Cabral Riqui for Vazquez If needed due to injury or crap form,... Aguirre, Gasper, Sasha, DePuy and Alvarez 2nd half should look like so if all is going well. ----------------Chicharito -----DeJan------Puig-----Costa ---------Brugman----Delgado Edward--Williams--Sega---Araujo --------------------Bond Let's get it done team.
We will see The Puig on Friday. Riqui's ready 💙🤍💛@RiquiPuig has received his P1 Visa and is available for selection for #LAvSEA. 🎟 https://t.co/WbFPJXKxYM pic.twitter.com/hdVraiiyDO— LA Galaxy (@LAGalaxy) August 17, 2022
Yeah, clearly Williams goes back in the lineup. I don't even mind Cabral starting if he has the same level he had v Vancouver. I love Dejan and he has to be worked in the starting lineup but right now he is more effective coming off the bench. We need to optimize everyfrigginbody. Seattle is up against it also. Both teams are at the brink of turning their fortunes or total failure for this MLS season. Granted they still keep the Conca trophy but regardless. Vanney needs to outwit Schmetzer and the guys need to put their bigboy pants on. You know Schmetzer is out there right now figuring our its his friend Vanney coming up next.
I would be pleasantly surprised if Puig gets more then 10 minutes on the pitch, I see him as a 90th minute sub, because vanney. if he gets 30, the Galaxy is probably way behind
He probably shouldn't get much more unless we're in a very good spot, IMO. I think it's tough to pull him on and expect a guy to save our bacon in his debut minutes. He's not Zlatan after all or even a Costa; he's a young guy looking to find his footing.
At this stage I'm confused as to who is better between Williams and Depuy. Seattle is going to pull a lot of fouls and dead ball plays into the box. I almost feel like we could use 4 cb's.
I am starting to get that stiff-hair-on-the-back-of-the-neck feel about tomorrow's match. Don't really care about Rick's debut. Lets GET THE POINTS!!! and I can worry about Puig next week. GALAXY!!!
We are expecting another capacity crowd for tomorrows game! Be sure to arrive as early as you can!— LA Galaxy Service (@LAGalaxyService) August 18, 2022 I got a pair available for free to any Galaxy fan posters here that can make the game.
If you have to pick I say go with Williams. In my opinion he is easily our best and most consistent Center Back and defender in general. What I want is a focused defense. We lost our last game to them on individual and unnecessary mistakes from our backline.
yeah, I don't expect him to do anything awe inspiring, I figure if it gets bad or good, vanney will raise the white flag or Seattle concedes and give him more time on the pitch to get familiar to what MLS is plastic pitches and all
Biggest game of the season. We win, and we put 4 points between us and Seattle who are just on the cusp of a playoff spot. We lose, and we are out of the playoffs, and moral will be pretty garbage. Puig is playing, and we are coming off a good win. Let's finally beat Seattle again!
