His "thing" right now is being on the receiving end of wall passes and occasionally, a long through from a deep fullback. When the match got chaotic, in the last 20 minutes or so, there wasn't the structure to give him those passes.
For me, Robinson was probably the best performance of the weekend that didn't generate much discussion. I thought he was pretty darn good. And of course Ream was doing Ream things. Ream may end up going down as one of the most undervalued players of this generation. He's approaching 400 career games in England for Fulham/Bolton (At 452 games with MLS included right now). One helluva career. Not suggesting he should be on the World Cup squad or anything. Simply an appreciation post.
Agreed. The man is 34 (and 7 weeks from 35). How many players in the Prem are 34 and still putting out quality performances? To put numbers to it: of the 572 players in the Premier League this year, Tim Ream is the 17th-oldest player. He is the 7th-oldest player this year not including goalkeepers. The list of 6 outfield players that are older than Ream is a who's who of world-famous footballers: Thiago Silva, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ashley Young, James Milner, João Moutinho, and Jamie Vardy. What a freakin' list. (Also, Ream, Silva and Vardy are the only ones to have started both of the first two matches from that list.) On top of that, he's a club legend at Fulham who has been a class act and model leader for the club on and off the pitch. (This is the video of Ream surprising the young fan with cerebral palsy last year; the part with Ream in this video starts at the 5:25 mark.) Absolutely underrated for what he's done in his career. Quality and longevity. Source: https://www.worldfootball.net/players_list/eng-premier-league-2022-2023/nach-alter/12/
I believe that if Ream can hold a starting spot for Fulham until November - and they perform at least respectably - then he has a strong chance of leapfrogging back into the Qatar picture. But that could be a quite unlikely set of conditions. Sands and Tillman start for Rangers against PSV.
Josh Sargent GOAL vs Huddersfield pic.twitter.com/bkNmTWBjYU— Kranks (@dis_possessed) August 16, 2022 Norwich finally starts Sargent at striker and he scores a goal in 7 minutes. Hmm!— scuffed (@scuffedpod) August 16, 2022 Not sure it’s technically “an assist,” but after scoring the first, Josh Sargent had a hand in Norwich’s second goal against Huddersfield. I would love for Sargent and Pepi to heat up right now while the others already scoring keep it up and make who take a really hard decision for Berhalter.
I could see Richards sub in as a rb to see the game out v. England up 1-0 on English goalkeeper's own goal.
People need to see this video of Xavi talking about Dest during his presser. Body language says it all. pic.twitter.com/fjjPKZDQhy— Eric Heggie (@EricHeggie) August 17, 2022 Kai Havertz is regarded as a world class talent. Christian Pulisic is regarded as a flop. Here are their "per 90 minute" stats since Kai arrived at Chelsea in the Autumn of 2020. This DOES NOT include "lockdown Pulisic". Premier League & Champions League stats only. pic.twitter.com/twghA6XBjl— Sporty (@sporty280) August 16, 2022 Both Dest and Pulisic need to get the hell out asap
At least on loans, as poor showings by either side could see a regime change come next season. Doubtful though—both clubs know the post-WC value of their respective USMNT players is more likely to rise than fall, considering their stature with the national team and the potential for both players to show well in Qatar. As it stands (correct me if I’m wrong) both players’ valuations are lower now than when they were most recently bought.
Pulisic is linked to a move that may not be considered ideal - a loan to Manchester United. Reporting by Andy Mitten. https://theathletic.com/3515717/2022/08/17/pulisic-manchester-united-transfer/
I think a move to Man U would be excellent. The club has nowhere to go but up. They could use him in the attack big time. Their coach is very good and would give him plenty of opportunities to show his stuff which at this point Tuchel is clearly not.
It was Sargent's first game this season in a central role and he played very well. Should get another chance this weekend. We'll see how he does, but he needs a lot of momentum to keep his job when Pukki and Idah are healthy.
I really don't want to root for anyone at Manchester United. I would rather take him at Newcastle at that point. However, without someone lined up as a replacement, I don't see Pulisic moving this window.
We'll see. ManU is also very interested in Dest apparently. Truth is there are a lot of clubs that seemingly have expressed interest in Pulisic. ManU just naturally generates headlines. There are tweets out there right now from reputable (more reputable than the Daily Mail. ) reporters indicating Pulisic is very interested in hooking up with McKennie at Juve. https://t.co/6NqqoHvuGB— USMNT Only (@usmntonly) August 16, 2022
What, Chelsea won't be able to replace the six minutes they gave him last game? He's too good to be sitting on the bench. And his playing time with the National team isn't guaranteed. Take a loan and by next year Tuchel will probably be gone.
As for Sargent, we only have a small sample, but based on that, he might be a dominant second-level striker. We'll see.
Indeed. And they do have plenty of attackers without Pulisic. Ziyech, Havertz, Hudson-Odoi, Sterling, etc. etc. They don't actually need to replace Pulisic before loaning him out. Give Hudson-Odoi those 6 minutes. Or how about this? Heaven forbid. Call one of the gazillion guys you have on loan back.
He's fourth in line which will still get lots of minutes unless you think Havertz, Mount, and Sterling will start every game and go 75+. And as I've said before, I'll change my mind if and when Chelsea sign another attacker.
