Didn't say he does nothing. What exactly does he do, enlightened us, or at least me....there are 5 coaches, including Greg. He's nowhere near being a coach sorry. Maybe a cheerleader.
More Luchi - his "First Day as Head Coach of FCD" "We are a club that is not going to prioritize buying stars or bringing stars. We're a club that's committed to developing stars". So there's the fit. IWannaPonyists™, commence with your conniptions!
I didn’t know that, I thought Luchi was currently unemployed. Interesting that Berhalter hired him for that, i wonder why, i.e. what Luchi was contributing. Also, i guess that means Luchi has no staff, so therefore, maybe Wondo and Ralston will stay on? Guess we will find out at tomorrow’s presser.
I've got nothing against Luchi, actually I remember I was stocked when we drafted him. Thing is, he's not much different than the yallop's, kinnear's of yesteryears. He's just a younger version of them. Dude is part of the good ol boys club (usmnt network) like many of them are. Anthony Hudson (x crapids coach) is an assistant, also BJ Callaghan (who?!?) is an assistant. Leitch is out of his mind if he truly thinks Luchi will make a difference, outside of promoting youngsters, which any manager would be foolish not try and do.
Well at least they're not hiring what wackjob Eric Wynalda as some weirdos always push for... could that be the reason for his bitter response here? I'm worried about the state of San Jose's locker room. Saw a lot of frustration on the field today and seems like there's a lack of leadership in there. Appears that Wynalda deleted that tweet. Warranted or not, not an especially good look attacking an amateur journalist who's all of about 14 years old. As for the "locker room", he's actually talking about what happened on the field. Of course guys are going to be frustrated, losing 4-1 on some bad mistake goals and it's 95 degrees or something and you haven't won in 6 games. I don't see guys sniping at each other at all, which is a telltale sign of "locker room problems". And last game in Austin they fought back very well. Now that Alex is purely a lame duck coach though, what happens now? I think he's gotta still be motivated to do as well as he can to possibly put himself in position for some other coaching job. Or maybe he's pissed off - which could be a problem. CL has to manage that.
Players seem in good spirits. Saw a few leaving practice when dropped by office shortly after noon today. A handful walked by me, and I said, “go get ‘em on Saturday”. Skahan responded, “yes, sir.” Reminded me I’m old.
I'm not the one who's making the claims here. I don't know how Berhalter manages his staff, but it stands to reason that if you hire an experienced professional coach as an assistant, you give him some coaching responsibilities. Do you have any information to support the idea that Berhalter hired him onto his staff for some reason but gave him no coaching responsibilities?
All I'm saying is besides setting a few cones and maybe talking to a few players, he's not "coaching" much, that is why Greg is there. Assistants do a lot of cheerleading and follow whatever the coach wants. Again, in this case a yes man in the federation that works well with the younger players. He's already done this job (Quakes coach incoming) with a better franchise and failed, why would it be different here?
Not sure I’d say he failed with FCD. He had 2 pretty good seasons (6th and 7th) and I guess half or 2/3 of a poor one. It’s also possible he learned something in his stint with FCD. He was kind of deer in the headlights when he got the job, and now he probably has a bit more confidence. I’m kind of lukewarm on the hire but not down on it either. Listening to him talk in his Dallas stint I didn’t get the sense of a real fire up the team / strong motivator. He seemed to have more a laid back / teacher kind of vibe. But we’ll see. But that’s my main concern at this point.
Yeah, kind of the impression I got. Great, we hired the "Hallmark" coach. "Never apologize for who you are." "Some days you just need to feel a little extra loved." "Life is better with friends." "You can't be sad when you're holding a cupcake".
Wow, this might be the most united Big Soccer has been on our feelings towards the new coaching hire.
Yes, I agree. My biggest concern is he might not have a strong enough presence in the locker room when things get tough.
Does this guy think he's telling Quakes fans anything we don't already know... For all the #Quakes74 fans… regardless of who they appoint tomorrow (and yes I do know who it is) it’s gonna be hard for the team to be in the place you want it to be.The team still needs a revamp and no coach can come and save the team with this same structure.— Carlos Yustis (@CarlosYustisTV) August 17, 2022
