How many more players do they need to lose lol. Yes, on paper players like Barrett and Kyokawa should be able to pose a legit offensive threat; but I feel like your really underestimating the negative effects losing so many established players will have on Potsdam this season.

I mean yes... both Meppen, and Duisburg, look to be the weakest teams in the league this season. But I don't see a massive gap Potsdam's current squad, and teams like Essen, or Bremen...

Without all their players, Bayern would lose their first friendly of preseason 0-1 against WSL side Brighton & Hove Albion, and now with a full squad travel to Italy to face the Italian leagues Sassuolo today.

Also scheduled to face Atletico Madrid on the 26th (game will be live streamed), it will be interesting to see how Bayern's team will look in this pre-season match, where I'm seeing their coach wanting to use Kumagai in a CM role..., but overall still appear to have the components of a very strong core of the minimum 14-15 players.

I feel like Frankfurt Vs Bayern being the Bundesliga's big opening round match, means their new coach is going to have a lot of scrutiny on his vision to progress this team beyond the work of Scheuer.

I read all their players finally joined to complete the squad for the excursion to Italy.
But here's the only information/footage I could find of the players involved against Brighton....

Last season should have been enough to let everyone know Bayern will not win anything with GPV part of their defense. But here we are, watching their new coach pushing superior CB's Kumagai, and Tainara, both out wide, so GPV leads from the center of a back 3...o_O:ROFLMAO:

I have no idea what this formation change is about, or the particular players it's designed to help/benefit; but reading their new coaches overly positive response to this latest performance, I don't see this side featuring Bühl, Magull, or Schüller very often...:cautious:

Bühl never as strong centrally as she is out wide. Schuller never known to work with a strike partner. I'd even ask what Magull's influence would be, if it's to be part of this 3-4-3 system too. It's basically removing 3 of your best offensive players, to try and cover other players constantly poor defending.

Their going to face Barca next week, in Tuesday's friendly tournament opener of the AMOS Women's French Cup. Meaning this 3-4-3 formation will be tested in ways that will either expose every flaw, or legitimize it's use.

Watching Wolfsburg expose Chelsea's back 3 twice last season in UWCL play, I only see MAJOR concerns for Bayern trying this path against this level of competition, using the players they currently possess.

Barca, PSG/Man Utd, then Atletico Madrid, before opening Bundesliga fixtures see's them face Frankfurt...o_O I didn't think Bayern a likely league, or cup winner this season, but these games will reveal a lot about Bayern's identity under their new coach this season.

    1st half...
    --------- Bühl ---------- Schüller ---------- Magull ---------
    Gwinn ------ Zadrazil ---------- Stanway --------- Glass
    ----- Kumagai ----------- GPV ------------ Tainara --------
    ----------------------------- Grohs -------------------------------
Front three poor, wasted the few clear chances created. Zadrazil, Stanway, doing too much of the same work. I feel sorry for Kumagai, as I see her getting murdered by stronger opposing wingers exploiting space behind the wing backs.

    2nd half...
    ------ Dallmann ---- Damnjanovic ---- Laurent ---------
    Simon ------ Zadrazil ---------- Lohmann --------- Rall
    ----- Kumagai ----------- GPV ------------ Tainara --------
    ----------------------------- Grohs -------------------------------
More fluid attack, creating chances through more direct running with the ball. Lohmann providing something different over Zadrazil/Stanway doing the same type of defensive work.

So I'm truly lost why these coaches persist with GPV, to the point she's now being forced between superior CB's within a back 3... But Bayern's next 3 games should reveal a lot more about this teams hopes for the coming season...:coffee:

Bayern play Barca today, with their coach talking about continuing the new look 3-4-3, where he wants to create more chances through retaining lots of possession of the football, against... Barcelona...

This the goal representing the way Bayern's new coach seems to want to play this season, I still don't believe his side will succeed having GPV part of the starting 11, and feel Kumagai - Tainara perfectly capable of playing together with Zadrazil sitting in front of them.

But if this 3-4-3 formation is his plan A, B, and C, I wonder who'll be the elite forwards and CM's left out, so a still highly suspect GPV can continue to retain her confusingly prominent role...:cautious: I mean, Magull, Bühl, Schüller, aren't built for this type of system...

Bayern 1-0 at half. Both teams look a little rusty, feels like Barca missing players. Perfect pass to beat the Barca back line. Gwinn scores from an unselfish pass from Buhl.

Hansen ties it up 1-2 at 59 min mark. BM stupidity took out Buhl for the 2nd half & haven’t looked dangerous since

LOL... this after their coach was talking complete nonsense about controlling possession to create chances...

Again... if Scheuer was let go for this, Bayern will need another 2-3 years to make a currently weak 3-4-3 formation even remotely effective against elite competition.

The moment Barca put wingers on both sides, Bayern instantly pinned back in a 5-4-1, needing bunker and counter attacking tactics to relieve pressure.

They won this match Vs a Barca side not exactly operating at it's maximum... but I can see Bayern facing some genuine problems Vs opponents in the UWCL with strong mid-fields, or dynamic wide play.

I mean, if Frankfurt look good in their UWCL debut this week... I might start believing they an carry on their good form Vs Bayern for the leagues opening weekend fixtures...:cautious:

Barca looking very pre season, but still, their ticky tacky once again exposed to easy counters. BM got to worry again with Viggo’s shitty defending. Don’t think Buhl gets to be an winger anymore, but way more busier than Schuller was(if their doubling up at the #9), but this might at least get Buhl more on the scoreboard. Gwinn gets to at least move up more(with 3 CB’s at the back). Laurent had a lot of speed, but doubt if Bundi teams will give her that kind of open space to work. The coach seems to prefer Stanway over Magull & Lohmann?

Will face Man U in the final(since apparently the near entire PSG starting lineup wasn’t even rostered(though MU we’re missing their ENG NT’s). Wonder why some of these clubs taking it easy while others be already playing serious competitive soccer by tomorrow?)
Frankfurt takes on what could be an tough, in season, Danidh opponent

If Barca's much stronger second half 11 started this match, I don't think it would have seen Bayern exposing anything lol.

Agree... GPV is a very mediocre defender, significant leagues below the quality of a CB like Kumagai. And I find it ridiculous watching her forced into this team like a key player, while Bayern still posses an elite DM in Zadrazil, who was previously one of the leagues best in that role, having Tainara - Kumagai the obvious starting CB options within a back 4 system too...

It makes ZERO sense to me seeing Bayern switch to a 3-4-3, when they don't even have the players to do it effectively. Also knowing it's easier to task Zadrazil with dropping between Tainara - Kumagai whenever the team wants to play out from the back.

I maintain, Bayern made a huge mistake not looking within their own domestic league for new players this season (look at Wolfsburg). As it's damn obvious to me, they'll never win anything as long as bench options like GPV continue starting for them.

Nope... we've seen Scheuer try this twice with Bühl, within Freiburg, and Bayern sides, only to see Bühl's performance worsen with this positional change. Even the u19/20 coach tried this, with it failing to reap a higher amount of offensive productivity from Bühl.

And honestly... considering how she's just come off another season where she was top 3 for assists, and a Euro's she was the competitions most effective wide threat without playing all 6 games, why should she be forced into a central role again...?

Still only 21, Bühl was establishing herself as one of the worlds best wide forwards, but is now part of a Bayern side her general position on the field nowhere near the goal lol...

    Bühl -------------- Schüller ------------ Laurent
    --------- Magull ---------- Lohmann -------------
    --------------------- Zadrazil ------------------------
    Simon ---- Kumagai --- Tainara ---- Gwinn
    ------------------------- GK? ---------------------------
This is surely 100% Bayern's best 11 this season...? I feel like their new coach not understanding how genuinely elite Lohmann will be, not knowing much about Bühl, or Magull, mistaking Zadrazil's more offensive role with Austria, as the same player she should be in club football.

Their coach is overcomplicating this way too much, as if Scheuer's time one of complete failure, when this simply not true; for a side who'd been league champions, knocking on the door of UWCL finals. All he had to do was build on what was already there, not destroy it...

..o_O Glas, or Gwinn... neither need to be part of a goofy wing back system to generate offense. And seeing this coach insist on a formation that removes the offensive threat of Bühl, Magull, and Lohmann from his starting 11, so GPV, Stanway, and Dallmann can all start...:ROFLMAO:

Because these are pre-season games to test new ideas, or get new players integrated into various systems. If these games UWCL matches, Barca wrecks the Bayern side we saw yesterday, with a full strength PSG likely dealing with Man Utd very comfortably too.
