There is one record that I hope Brooks loses in 3 months - that of being the only US defender to ever score a goal at the World Cup.
I hope that too but not out of spite, that was an extremely well taken goal, and Brooks was a great player for us in 2014.
Yep. There's no spite involved. For the same reason, I hope to see Landon Donovan lose his record of having the most goals in World Cup history of any player from the US (or North America).
It's August 14, and John Brooks still has no club and has not played a competitive match in 3 months. At this point, I don't see any way he is called into the September camp, and therefore, I don't see any way he can go to Qatar. It is very likely that his national team career is over.
Although it would probably be better for Brooks if had used a non-metallic parachute........... Let's call it a Silk Parachute?
Are there people who actually believe this? Now switching this around, I definitely don't think Brooks has this pass in his tool kit. Maybe it was all the pressure they put him under. Not great stuff from Walker Zimmerman here.. all the time in the world and he delivers a pass like this. Going to have to be smarter the World Cup is fast approaching. pic.twitter.com/7sNwcjoKl3— Takes 🇺🇸 (@USMNTTAKES) August 15, 2022
Yes and posting up a video of a crappy pass doesn't change things. Right now Brooks can't even pass out of his driveway....lol
Then you are delusional. I posted clips before of Brooks distribution and still waiting to see the examples from Zimmerman. Not sure why some people need to lie about the capabilities of these MLS players, but really weird to me. I only added this clip because for all the pushing of these MLS guys, folks around here don't seem to care how they play in the league. We saw this type of distribution in WCQ. What we didn't see was the atrocious defending.
I remember Zimmerman making a couple of nice over the top into space passes at the end of WCQ but I know he doesn't pass as well as Brooks. Brooks is one of the best long passing CB's in the world. That's not the reason he's not getting called up. He's just a hostage to changing tactics. A few years ago all of the tweener CB's weren't getting time but now a lot of them fit perfectly as out CB's in a three CB formation. Not long ago second forwards were numerous but over the last decade they're rare as most teams play a single forward. So Brooks doesn't fit as well in most schemes as he did a few years ago. Sometimes it's complete luck as to how you fit and what formations and schemes are in style.
Zimmerman has not been very good the last few matches. He has made some poor plays that have cost Nashville. Right now he is our #1 CB so I hope this is just a rough patch and his form improves before the World Cup.
Are you saying you would still take Brooks to Qatar, even though he hasn't played a competitive game or even have a team to play on since May?
Are you really making a big deal that Brooks doesn't currently have a team? Yes, I voted with the 60% that have Brooks going to Qatar. I believe Brooks has been severely mishandled by Berhalter and it will likely cost us in the WC.
It is a VERY big deal that he doesn't have a team yet. Even if it was a Saudi Arabia team he might have a chance. But unattached players are not going.
He didn't say that. What he said is 'unattached players". So lets just cut to the bottom line. By when does Brooks need to be on a team for you to put him on the plane to Qatar?
Serious question: how many players coveted by teams in top 5, or even top 8 European leagues are still unsigned?
Not quite either. He also said... "It is a VERY big deal that he doesn't have a team yet." I domt agree with that at all. Too many assumptions in that hypothetical question. This team should have been built around Brooks. Our best center back pairing would have been Brooks and Richards. I highly doubt Brooks is going to retire from soccer and very likely to have been playing by November.
Not sure why this matters to you, but here you go. Feel free to look it up and misuse any of the information however you want. https://www.transfermarkt.us/statistik/vertragslosespieler
