I have a bad feeling about this game. probably my usual pre-game nerves, but CP gave us a hell of a game last season and if we are anywhere near as lethargic as with Fulham ......
I don't recall that. I remember beating them easily both games. But they didn't have Eze who is a really good player/wildcard.
I’m not a fan of all the subs. It changes the shape and flow of the game. Tactical and time wasting. it’s getting like basketball! Pretty soon it’ll be sub out for a break then sub back in again. Then will the refs still add 30 seconds on for each change. Geesus a 2 hour game going to a 45 minute extra time with any sub taking PKs. Well perhaps not this year. But!!!
Anyway I have my time blocked out. Got to adjust bandits walk times. I like this noon KO. Lunch and a couple of beers. Mrs Scouse threatened to make me use plastic ‘glasses’ for my beer in case I throw one at the TV.
xG says otherwise: (H) Sept 18 - 2.77 - 0.64; 25-13 shots (10 on target to 2); 60-40 possession; 10 corners etc etc. That game was a walk in the park. Maybe you are thinking of the away game where we won 3-1 but XG was in their favor 1.63 to 1.50? Which came during AFCON so we were missing Salah and Mane. They actually had Eze, but no Zaha. But even then we outshot them 14-7 and out possessed them 57-43. And we were up 2-0 at half. Good thing we are at home.
Underlined not true if still only 3 sub occasions? So total number of interruptions is still the same?
I make some quick notes after every game so I can track our record vs oppo teams -- for that game I came away thinking we'd done well to get the 3 points. anyhoo, not really worth debating, water under the bridge. yep - home opener tonight. hope the players manage to stay awake for 90+ minutes. and I'm sick of us conceding the first goal! it seems ages since we scored first (it's now 8 or 9 games or something?)
I am now in the Sam camp - I don't have a good feeling about this game at all. We better aim to score a lot as our midfield is going to be easy to play through.
https://www.thisisanfield.com/2022/...stal-palace-with-surprise-nat-phillips-start/ Nat Phillips is starting. I thought he was out on loan.
Yeah, I'm not too thrilled with it. How Nat gets the start ahead of Joe is puzzling. I'm sure Palace will be encouraged by that lineup. Gotta trust in Jurgen I guess.
Wtf. Nat in the shop window is the only thing that comes to mind, or Joe has a knock of some sort. Looks like Klopp is betting heavy on the bench for this.
Yeah, it's a weird one... midfield makes me concerned, and Phillips. Not because he's not good or hasn't played well previously, but to bring him in the way FBs left the defense exposed last week, might be asking a lot of him right away. I don't know a ton about Palace, I don't remember them looking very good against Arse. Expecting a win here.
