Heck of a win considering the lineup and bench. The back 4 was, for the most part, pretty solid and Petrovic was there when it wasn't.

Thoughts- More Buck please. Granted it was a limited sample size but he didn't put a foot wrong during his entire stint. Ema was great. He was a handful for DC for the entire match and the fact that he didn't really fade (that I could see anyway) makes you wonder why Bruce hasn't given him more minutes.

The finishing unfortunately was a bit suspect. Rennicks should have scored in the first half. I love the hustle, love the fact that he can put some pressure on defenders when they're trying to advance the ball, and you can see he's making pretty well timed runs. Basically his style is Jamie Vardy minus the scoring ability. Still I'd rather have him out there then Jozy collecting a pay check. He's got grit.

Carles finishes that play when he dribbled past the keeper 9 times out of 10. Hard to criticize him though because he otherwise had a great match.

Huge win though given the week ahead. They needed the 3 points and fortunately got them.

Four straight clean sheets. As far as I can tell, the Revs have only done that in league play one other time, in 2005.

Sustainable success hinges on player availability. If they can't get healthy, and fast, the drive to move up the standings will stall.

A good crowd, and an actual good result. It wasn't pretty, but with a makeshift roster to get two straight wins is a huge plus.

And if we thought the roster was a challenge, wait till we go on the road to Canada the next two games and we're missing players that haven't been vaxxed. I believe Kessler is one.

I was nervous throughout the time we held a 1 goal lead, but we made it stand up.

    - Rennicks is making progress, I think well see him on the scoring sheet before too long

    - Buck was very, very good. He won some balls in 1v1 battles and made quick, clean, smart passes (I'm always thinking to myself that anyone on the Revs would be making a good play by getting the ball to Gil - Buck seems to have that idea ingrained). Nearly scored and really deserved an assist on Gil's post shot. He physically was fully up to the challenge and it looked like he clearly had nerves, yet didn't let that get in his way. He did benefit from coming in when DCU was forced to open up the game, but still, can't really fault anything he did.

    - our formula for scoring lately has been a good pass to free the overlapping back, quality cross and clean shot. Worked to perfection on the only goal.

    - DC got to play in/around our area way to much for me to feel comfortable - yet we did step up to shut down shots.

    - Like everyone, I get nervous when Omar comes in, but Saturday was the perfect situation for him. When teams are running out of time and have to resort to pumping high balls into the area, that's what he's built for. We had a ton of defenders in, so there really was very little space if an attacker wanted to take him on 1v1. At any rate, he did the job for the 2nd game in a row, so that's another positive to build on.

    - Will be interesting to see who gets the call with Kessler out for the upcoming trip (I still can't really believe he didn't get vaxxed).

    - Some really questionable referreeing IMO. Seemed like a lot of calls went against the Revs.

    - In about the 40th minute, Gil rounded Birnbaum and was in alone on the keeper, when Birnbaum extended his arm and clearly pushed Gil off the ball - %100 a penalty in my book and possibly a DOGSO red card (though I think another defender was dropping into the goal mouth). There was clear, illegal contact and the shove was the sole reason Gil was unable to get a shot off. Pretty unbelievable it wasn't even reviewed - and if it had been, I don't see any way a PK wouldn't be awarded.

    - I wonder if Polster is injured, or whether Arena told him to take a few days off to be ready for the midweek game.

    - thought Damien Rivera put in a very solid shift; he's looking like a solid veteran. I think he can assert himself more on the attack, but it seems like he's taking a conservative mindset.

    - Good debut minutes for Macoun - this was a game where we really needed some energy/athleticism in dmid off the bench. He seemed a little loose with the ball, but didn't lose it, so I guess that's just managing the space he had.

    - Esmir B. was lined up to go in with Buck, but they pulled him back for some reason.

Having just come off a bout with Covid - after traveling to and from an indoor conference with about 300 folks present and been in planes/airports with people hacking left and right with Covid coughs and no masks - it really is time for Canada to get with the program and relax things a bit. The new variants are proving to be much more mild. The flight attendants don't care - and they're working in environments like this daily. 90% of the passengers don't care. The hotel staff where I was at certainly didn't care. Until another variant comes along that does spike up the hospitalizations what Canada is doing, to me, is a bit foolish.

For what it's worth I was all in favor of the lockdowns when they occured and feel like the first couple of rounds of vaxxing were probably a good idea.

There goes the win streak. I know its Canada but there are several court cases here that are penalizing companies that have required people to get the vaccine or get fired. The courts are finding against that rule here and awarding cash to people that were fired. I have to think it will take a court challenge to get that nonsense stopped in Canada as well. If an athlete is entering Canada to play a game or two, and can test clean of Covid....what possible harm could he cause? Stupid law. We will miss Henry but I stand with him on his decision not to take the jab. If I had to do it again, I dont think I would do it either. As it is, I will not take any boosters for a vaccine that doesnt even work. I tested positive in January and had no real symptoms

And the pro-con arguments of getting vaccinated stop right here please. We aren't going down the rabbit hole of political stuff here.

He made the bench on TotW this time - I feel like they wanted to mix it up and gave to Dayne St. Clair even though he let in a goal haha. 7 saves from him, so I get it.

The downside to Petrovic's dominance is I worry we're going to lose him back to Europe really quickly, so his Revs tenure will be even shorter than Turner's. Hell, he looks like he'd be a big step up from De Gea for ManU right now (though if I were Djordje, I'd wait for less of a dumpster fire to come calling, rep or no).

i think the acquisition of Diop happened once the club realized that Petrovic was the real deal, and his stay in NE might be brief

Its the Canadian policy that is forcing us to play without our best defender for two games. That is the point, not the pro-con of vaccines. Maybe MLS should force the Canadian teams to forfeit their games or play them in the US? It's not fair to teams here to be forced to play shorthanded

Nor was it fair when Toronto had to play their home games in Hartford. Punishing teams for government decisions is a slippery slope. It happens (i.e. Russia, World Cup), but only in extreme circumstances.

Yeah, I was thinking that too.
True, but I'm okay with that - it only strengthens our appeal as a club for launching players into higher leagues and the current administration has shown some real talent for replacing quality players.
Just stop. Canada is protecting their public health - they don't have any special rules for Americans, sports teams, athletes, etc. Just because we seem to be taking a more relaxed attitude and letting down restrictions, doesn't mean it's a good idea. This story is far from written, I suspect.
